if by "long lasting" he means durability, then a g-shock has every other watch beat.
even if he's talking about a watch being worth it as an heirloom that's still wrong, because there are plenty of watches under $10k MSRP that would make great heirlooms. datejust, submariner, gmt master, certain omegas, etc.
saying that buying any watch between $2k and $10k is throwing money away is an objectively garbage take"Psai is the love child of Rick Ross, Ghandi and Oz" - Phoenix9369

Years ago, my dad gave me two watches that belonged to his dad.
One was a gold 1950s hooded lug Seamaster. It's worth roughly $8k right now, runs fantastic, and will be passed to my son one day.
The other was a stainless 1950s Gruen automatic watch. It's worth roughly $300 right now. It runs fantastic after service and will be passed to my son one day.
Unless you're buying truly crappy quartz watches or stuff with cheap plating that's going to wear off, almost anything can be an heirloom.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

My grandfather’s Seiko 5 is probably worth less than $100. Great heirloom though, and it started ticking immediately when I held it, even though he died 25 years ago.
Anyway, even here’s interesting heirloom watch, and surprisingly, it’s actually quartz.

Guess youre new to this specifc watch game, so ill share some of the watch wisdom with you
Anyone who is into watches buy them for one or all of the three below reasons
1) Status
2) History
3) Complication
Its exactly as art collection, you cant call yourself an art enthusiast buying graffitti printed posters
When it comes to these intricate time keepers 4 or 5 watch houses sit at the top "including the holy trinity ap,pp,vc reigning supreme ",and when your cruising up there, a $2k,$8k watch isnt worth wasting your $$$$ if you aiming for a high end watch... thats why i laugh and actually look down upon donkeys who buy rolex's. They think owning that sh!tty house brand gives them a different footing among others "i mean it does when were talking casio, seiko, timex brands" . Not wearing a watch or wearing a digital watch will earn you more respect among watch collectors than these rolex [[[[[[wanna be's]]]]]]]]
When you're buying a time piece , you need one with rich history, strong market performance, and technical brilliance. Us watch enthusiasts greatly appreciate the incredible level of craftsmanship that goes into creating these beautiful machines.Cherish your life. Live to tell your story

I couldn’t disagree more on Rolex. And I think seeing watches based on whether or not they belong to certain houses is myopic, as the specific model often matters just as much as the company that made it imo. I’d take an F.P. Journe Tourbillo.n over a Patek Calatrava anyday.

Thanks man! Fully agree. And the blue lume on the stick markers is an incredibly nice touch.
Thanks man. Absolutely. I figure that's my sports watch and this is my dress watch.
I've still got all the other stuff (Omega, Oris, Halios) that I love, but I imagine those won't be seeing a ton of wrist time now.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

Some of the worst takes I've ever seen ITT have come from you (srs)
Seems to me like you got your ass ravaged too hard from when you posted your JLC and now you're just taking out your insecurities on everyone... you can let me know if you think I am wrong, but I tend to read these situations correctly most of the time (srs)

never change catbrah lmao!
Also, just saw enforcer just said his watch is one you manually wind. Is that pretty common on the watches y'all wear? Seems kinda tedious to me although I am sure it is a far more complicated movement than most others. Looks like a nice watch regardless.Fitness connoisseur
