Why do you even bother with data like that?
It's going to be from some small sample and who did they use to prove "obesity" is increasing?
It's like, people who go to the doctor.
I never have to go to the doctor because I do not get sick. Sick people go to the doctor, and guess what, fat people are probably over represented.
Also, BMI is nonsense.
I would fit into the massively obese range just based on my weight, but it's muscle. When I get a physical for work, I will see the nurse struggling to think and will tell her to not put obese down because these idiots cannot think.
Many Americans are very robust due to a good diet. Also, black and Hispanics can be VERY solidly build people with dense muscles, so the white nerd BMI does not apply to them.
You don't know what those stats mean.If you want to ask me a question:

While it’s not optimal I could still live a year off seven eleven and maintain a healthy body. Hitting not only macros but micros using the canned products and seeds/nuts with light fruit selections.
A lot of stuff like dried goods and canned goods would be a requirement for living off the land naturally going through winter in most of the world.

Read what I've just said about stats.
Meanwhile, I actually work with kids, I'm in schools, etc, and I do not see fat kids. I will see large kids, but not obese ones.
Anyone who actually lifts, meaning no one here, knows the BMI is an extremely poor indicator of anything.
So, all stats are going to be wrong because an outdated measure is being used.
BMI is based on the bodies of white nerds. If you want to ask me a question:

I definitely see the effects of big pharma.
I started to gain a lot of weight in 2018 when they put me on around 5 psych meds to get me off of benzos that I've legally taken for anxiety, because the 5 are not controlled substances. The problem is that 3 of them have weight gain as a side effect. They also make you extremely fatigued.
SSRIs are known to cause weight gain and they are handed out like candy.
Fast food has been around forever. Its was around when I was a kid but we went as a once a week treat. Now families go daily.
Technology has made people more sedentary. Instead of going to the grocery store people order Amazon, Instacart or Door Dash. You can easily walk 2-3,000 steps or more doing those errands on your own.
Very few people go to the gym regularly, especially once they have kids. I had to go at 9pm at night once she was in bed.

BMI invalidated by highly muscular people. Not pudgy Mexican kids.
Ib4 you try to say all the fat kids are just jacked and on steroids lmao.
Quit making chit up and pretending like that’s other peoples arguments. Not a single person on here is stupid enough to take your imaginary claim of kids being muscular healthy with even a modicum of seriousness.

Did you read the studies cited?
One is 32 years old
One used mice and not humans
Another was sponsored by weight watchers and surveyed people's perceived stigma surrounding obesity (no objective data)
Another was a sleep study related to weight and calories consumed
I agree thay weight loss while being simple is not easy. Much like a marathon. Very simple formula but difficult to achieve.
The content of the article does not agree with its title. It covers a range of behaviors that are absolutely under people's control.
The closest it comes to defending its thesis is when they cover hormones.
It is very irresponsible to draw the conclusion that people cannot manage their own weight. That is dangerous messaging. We can certainly have more empathy but this article is irresponsibly reporting a cluster of data that are in no was conclusive. The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I had open heart surgery last year, I'm on blood thinners and aspirin for life brahs.
My surgeon regularly cheks in with me, he says I'm overweight because of my anti-anxiety medication.
Surprised a doctor of his degree would blame medication on me being a fat fuk when its a simple fact that I eat too much.
< see avi sons.

Some, about 70-80% bodybuilders like to get fat off-season so they can powerlift. I'm a powerlifter off-season. In contest I get ready for a bodybuilding show. I'm a /Bodybuilder Powerlifter."

Stop doubling down on stupid. It isn't true that the numbers come only from doctor's offices, but let's pretend they do. Okay, then they've come from doctor's office the whole time and the trend is upward consistently, using millions of people for sample sizes.
Another reason you're wrong is the consistent growth in diabetes. On a very related note, dialysis centers are also a growth industry. You'll be hard pressed to find people at dialysis centers who aren't obese or who weren't for decades before going to them. And people in health care can tell you it has gone way up over the years. Relatively plateaued in recent years compared to the fast growth of obesity from 1990-2015, as the obesity levels can only get so high. There's need for a lot more bariatric (severely obese) equipment, from wheelchairs to beds, etc. Those were virtually nonexistent 40 yrs ago, now they're relatively common.
Your imagination doesn't match the real world. Even in clothing stores things are different compared to when I was a kid and young adult, reflecting the vast amount of obesity.Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

It’s like it’s popular to be a lonely moody kid. I mean look at this chit.
My wife bought these audio books and were on a road trip. I start listening to this chit and this fukkin kid dropped some guys meatball in the concrete and was to scared and whiny to fess up to it so he hid the guys sandwich and ran away causing a fight.
Turned that chit off and binned the cd that night.
Googled it this was the scene
I mean fuk I spend my time trying to get my boy to keep his back up shoulders up head up looking me in the eye when I’m tellin him how it is. But building them up strong enoough to look their old man in the eyes when I’m giving em a what have you is delicate work. Role models like wimpy kid up there normalizing acting like a little girly boy just ain’t it.
