Damn, strong bump!
How's everyone holding up from all this virus nonsense. Still essential, still come to work most days, but fortunately only need to do 5 hours or so in the office. All our exercises for the summer have been cancelled, which makes my job significantly easier.

Just got back from annual training, my last drill with current unit. Start new position as the E-8 BN Ops NCO August drill. However there was an open 1SG position in the BN and I submitted a packet. Announcement closed on the 24th, checked today and only one other person applied. I like my odds

I'd rather sleep on the side of a mountain in the elements for a deployment than on a Navy ship in those small ass bunks with 100 other dudes.

Another strong bump. This time to complain lol.
Some months back the army told me I had to PCS. I responded with 'don't bother, I'm retiring next year(last year).' Then I get orders for this month, and the regulation changed that now you have to serve 12 months on station before you can file retirement paperwork, which already take up to a year. This pushed my retirement back by 12 months and forces me to move away from the area I plan to retire to.
I have an orders cancelation request that's been pending for over a month that will allow me to retire as planned, this DEC.
I was told that's an IG complaint if it gets denied. They can't force you to get orders when they know you are retiring, then force you to extend past your retirement date bc of the orders they gave you against your will.
Crazy times. Just venting lol. wtf.██ █ ★ █ ██ USMC 99-07. USA 09-Present.

When I was retiring (and PCSing) it was during the COVID lockdown. I was being told I can't move, DoD won't sent trucks. I would have to retire in place (with no job) and move when they allow. I had already built and purchased and house back in my home state and the kids were already registered to start school in home state. Luckily at the last minute, the policy changed and allowed moves for retirees. Was scary.

Aw hell yeah. Didn't know but nevermind, count me in!
At least you were tax free! Lol damn. Yeah I'm AGR. Active and ADOS can stake a claim at 18 years and can't be moved but AGR is stuck until 19.5 years which makes no sense. I feel like the guidance HAS to change with the new PCS requirements but oh well. Congressional here I come.██ █ ★ █ ██ USMC 99-07. USA 09-Present.
