Which do you prefer new gen consoles or old classics?

Some people are only looking for a quick phuck from a fresh face. Others are looking for some depth and something they can feel passionate about.

I like both, but for newer games I tend to go for the non "AAA" stuff. I'm not a fan of games that are more like a movie than a game.

Emulator crew. Been systemically beating childhood games on company time for a while now.

when you can play up to 16 bit consoles in a web browser.....

I just set up a Raspberry pi with a sega genesis roms and USB genesis gamepads.
have it hooked up to a crt TV under my desk and have a mini genesis case to put it in.
been playing beyond oasis on it.

Sega Genesis, PS1, and N64 are the GOAT consoles and would choose those over a new console any day of the week.

I don't think the car analogies here are exactly accurate, it's a lot simpler than that.


You play games because they are fun, engaging and give you satisfaction in the moment, evoke certain feelings whether they are new or old. Or if you feel like it in that particular instance. Just because something is newer and technically more advanced and "better", doesn't mean you are going to enjoy it over an older game that graphically isn't as good.

If you are looking to go for a drive for fun, you're not necessarily going to pick a newer car over an older one. However if you are looking to get from point A to point B, need reliability, convenience and comfort obviously you are probably going to drive a newer car.

I play on my GBA emulator from time to time, do I think many of the games are better than the ones nowadays? maybe, maybe not. Am I having fun playing those games? Sure as hell I am.

About to beat Cyber Shadow,. It's new, but clearly a throwback to Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man etc. On gamepass if you have it, never would have given it a second look if I didn't see it pop up. This one is solid:

About to beat Cyber Shadow,. It's new, but clearly a throwback to Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man etc. On gamepass if you have it, never would have given it a second look if I didn't see it pop up. This one is solid:

Halo 2, poker, sex With women and lifting, Ephedra drinks like them ABB or RTD’s or coffee or sometimes all 3 to keep me in that routine lol. Very good times. 20’s!

So many great games, more than ever and still able to play classics either through emulations, remasters, remakes or straight ports. PS2 era is the one I'd look at most nostalgically .... But as far as actual quality and appreciation of games go, I think the ps3 /ps4/ps5 gen is the best.

sega hinted at a dreamcast mini.
I have one but the laser is shot and it won't read discs anymore.
I may dig it out and install the SD-card mod they have that replaces the gd-rom.
