Should I keep my Trijicon VCOG 1-6x on my 16" AR, or put it on my 14.5" AR?

I'm thinking 1-6x on the 16", then a Trijicon MRO on the 14.5", maybe eventually add a magnifier to the MRO.

Going to get a Aimpoint T2 and 3x magnifier for my 11.5"

Then I currently have a T1 on my 8.5" 300BLK

Think it makes most sense to put the LPVO on the longer barrel. Generally longer barrel gives you better velocity and somewhat (maybe not significant idk) performance at longer ranges where you want a magnified optic.

I'm not sure how big of a blue difference there is in MI & WI. Tlaib is just the worst. I'm sure driving through Fabulous Ferndale on my way to work left an imprint on my brain.

my brother recently moved there for a little more affordable down town area as compared to royal oak. aside from the glitter, he is quite pleased with being able to hit downtown, and walk back to his place.

Ah that's super helpful. I've read some conflicting information but its most likely just conflicting in my interpretation.

I can't possibly see how a 18" rifle length gas system could be overgassing a carbine buffer and spring, but overgassing tends to be what gets addressed the most on the internet.

It's usually an indication of being under-gassed, either by gas port size, gas block misalignment, adjustable gas block incorrectly adjusted for buffer and bcg weight, or a buffer/spring combination too heavy.

Honestly, whatever optic looks best on the rifle. 1.5" is going to make no difference in velocity/range/terminal ballistics.

Having trouble finding a BCM style angled grip that is rubber with finger groves. Any ideas?

Houge makes a 15 degree but not rubber...and not a fan of sleeves.

The idea is that a perfectly gassed gun takes X amount of time to cycle. An over gassed gun takes less time to cycle than X since the assumption is that the BCG is moving rearward faster. The total cycle time is less, and therefore could outrun the mag spring.

I don't believe the BCG could be over gassed enough to do that though. It's a bunch of BS imo.

I got a Unity Fast Mount in for my Eotech and MK18. Not sure I like it. No cheek weld at all and I like to get in to the gun a bit. I know super high mounts are the hip thing right now but eh, need to try it in the range. I have a Vltor A5 buffer to put on it this weekend and then the mk18 is almost done.

I have this new gun put together with a BCM lower, BCG, and A5 buffer and a Midwest Industries 16” upper that I need an optic for. Tempted to order the scalarworks 1.93/NX8 combo but not sure how much I’ll like it after trying this unity mount.

Those high mounts are purely for night vision use.

Never got the high mounts, just feels odd; maybe since I have a smaller head and I also can't get a solid cheek weld to the gun. Seems like it would be more likely to hit and snag on things too, but that is likely a non-issue.

Only fired a 40mm with a gas mask, either way hard as hell to see; doesn't help half our masks are so yellowed it looks like someone pissed on the lens.

I'd rather deal with the gas myself, it sucks but I can handle that, though CS is really brutal.

Yea I know that’s what they were designed for but everyone is using them nowadays without that stuff for a squared up stance and heads up shooting. It’s worth a try just to experiment. I also like how the Unity magnifier Mount works with it in that it stays in the center of the gun and doesn’t hang off the side.

Ergo, maybe. Not at all familiar with them, but I think they're overmolded, finger grooves, and have a zero degree version.

One of the main reasons is that I was always a huge M14 mark growing up, always loved that weapon. Almost like buying an antique car. Yes there are better options that are newer but like the look of the oldies.

In that case, you should get both.

Another thing to consider is caliber. During normal times an AR15 would be a lot cheaper to shoot than an M1A. Also M1A’s aren’t exactly budget friendly either.

If you really worried about price just get something from Palmetto State. If it doesn’t work warranty should cover it. It’s cheaper to by a complete lower and complete upper of your choice vs a complete rifle for whatever reason.

last I looked you could get a complete Aero lower for about the same or less than a PSA. Uppers were close in price. Not ****ting on PSA but they are overpriced right now.
