It seems all of the movies before 2006 are very manly, very alpha and focusing on traditional gender roles for the most part, while movies post-2005 seem to be heavy on the P.C. rubbish. So, is it true then?

you shut your mouth. INfinity War a few years back was a top 5 movie of all time ( if you even Sort-of like Marvel)
War Movies are intense as well
Fury
Midway
Hacksaw Ridge
All have some elements of crappy hollywood, but are incredible visually.Just trying hard to not be a fat sack-o-chit.

I'm still too busy to catch up with what Amazon Prime Video offers to me week after week.
But considering the fact my enthusiasm towards new movies has never changed even today, I think the movies in general today are still really good, not all of them but quite a few of them I mean.
Unless you have seen them all, just give them a chance. That's all I ask.

That's why I like Chris Nolan. Interstellar was almost entirely live action.
Same with Tom Cruise. He learned to fly a helicopter for MI Fallout, and the scenes with him hanging from a helicopter, he was really hanging from a helicopter. He also really hung onto the side of Airbus A400M, climbed outside skyscrapers, and held his breath for 6 minutes.
I know what the OP means tho, there's something different about movies before and after the 07/08 recession. I notice the same thing about documentaries. The narrators get younger, more "metro" sounding where they used to have deep voices and said things in a matter of fact manner. Now everything is dramatized to the max it seems.- root console

Idk about a year time stamp for when they went bad but there has been a ton of movies getting pumped out that are all just meh..
80’s and 90’s movies were GOAT. While the cgi wasn’t that great the movies themselves were interesting and new. Today there’s so many remakes just to change what color or gender plays who. It’s stupid af. They need new ideas and then if they want so and so to be ethnic or female then do it from the start.
Edit: that being said interstellar is also my favorite movie if I have To pick one favoriteThis body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

There have been some great films released more recently.
I do think that bigger films now tend to cater to a broader audience/shorter attention span/current political backdrop and are less likely to take risks.
Some decent ones to watch released after 2006 -
Prisoners
Sicario
Drive
You Were Never Really Here
Wind River

Most modern movies are focus-grouped to cater to American and Chinese markets. That's why they're ripeful of superheros and explosions. The movies have so much action it's boring as hell. I cant relate with an invulnerable superhuman.
Now Sicario was a good post-2012 movie.Last edited by PopASquatt; 08-03-2020 at 04:57 AM.

Heres how it works. you only remember the good movies from back then. There were TOOOONS of crap movies also, same with music.
These days you get WAY more crap movies, a few decent ones and one or two really good ones each year. There are definitaly fewer good movies these days but they are there.
Its just that the masses are brainless scum and everything is geared toward getting their money. People with a brain dont go see Fast and furious 12 eight times.
