the number of deaths are rising because more people are getting it, see case #’s
But the initial risk of hospitals being overwhelmed, like Italy, where patients are turned away due to lack of beds, isn’t happening here
A lot of data coming out is showing a plateau in hospitalizations
Many cities haven’t even hit phase 3 of bed overflow
And some good news, look at hospitalization mortality
Probably a result of better treatments and the young getting it

USA hits 4 million infections today . . . 16 days after hitting 3 million. Although very likely that, in reality, it's 40 million.
https://www.foxnews.com/health/confi...-top-4-million
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States exceeded 4 million on Thursday.
However, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Robert Redfield, SARS-CoV-2 infections are likely 10 times higher than reported. On Wednesday, Redfield blasted “misleading media reports” that have falsely claimed there are 24 times more infections than reported cases of COVID-19.
As of Thursday, the U.S. has recorded at least 4,005,414 cases, with at least 143,820 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*

Every day that goes on shows more and more how not scary, and not very deadly this virus is...
Yet the media and fearcels keep wanting us to be scared of it, keep wanting to shut things down, keep wanting to force masks on young, healthy people, keep wanting to deny our kids the educations they need. List goes on and on.
Absolutely fuking pathetic that we've allowed this thing to bring us to our knees.

This is what my wife has been talking about. While kids might get sick and have a 99.9% chance of not dying, what's 100% certain is there are kids at home that:
- Can't eat because they're poor and rely on school for food
- Are getting mentally and/or physically abused daily
As a teacher, my wife has told me stories that I wouldn't have believed from someone else. You know there is poverty, abuse, etc. But you don't realize it's happening in your own communities
It isn't the school systems place to do so - but for a lot of kids, the school system is their everything. It's sad as fk, but true.Last edited by R3L3NTL3SS; 07-23-2020 at 05:54 PM.

You mean, because their government officials are making choices not to be back to normal like ours are here? Oh. K.
Not to mention, we are doing WAY better than many, many other countries in terms of mortality rate with the virus. So stop being your typical fking retarded self and comparing us to countries that have made out way worse than us. It's quite obvious that we're doing something(s) better than others are.
I love when people like you want to compare something like number of infected in US to other countries when in most cases we're literally 2, 5, 10 times larger in population than those countries.

Well if you cant point to any type of example or benchmark that we should have followed, then you really dont have a point. Youre kinda just talking to yourself.
You acknowledge that the living standards and the economy would still be fuked up had we ignored the virus?MIKE TYSON: "When you see me smash somebody's skull, you'll enjoy it."

Wife is a teacher as well. I had to tell her to stop telling me stories last year because they were too depressing. One kid told her that his mom hated him. My wife thought he was exaggerating so she asked the counselor and the counselor said yeah, the mom said she wishes he wasn’t born. Like wtf mane
Horny.

US death rate: ~3.5%
Italy: ~14%
UK: ~15%
Canada ~7%
Mexico: ~11%
France: ~16%
I could keep going, but I think you can clearly see that we can't be compared to what some of the other countries of the world have done. If we had the death rate that some of these other countries did, then we would absolutely, truly have something scary on our hands. So stop being fuking retarded and acting like what a country is doing that has a death rate 2-5 times higher than ours is what we should be doing here.
At what point do you stop being a doomer and take your emotions out of it?Last edited by R3L3NTL3SS; 07-23-2020 at 06:00 PM.

My parents are not old enough to be worried. I don't get to visit my grandparents as often as I'd like. So we should be shutting things down to protect old people? That's really it? Lmfao. How about when you visit them, stay the fk away form them? Wear a mask if you/they are worried? It's not fking rocket science. And absolutely no part of it requires anything at all to be shut down.

Lol, if saying it would only make it so.
You keep complaining about the media and fearcels, but like I said a few months ago, as long as hospitalizations remain abnormal, the media is going to keep reporting on it and for every new person that dies or gets hospitalized, there are probably about 10-20 friends and relatives that know that person who will start getting fearful for themselves and other loved ones, its like a feedback loop, even if they never cared about covid or didnt look at the media previously, they start caring because now its touched home and it becomes real for them.
But like alot of people say, its real easy for someone like you to sit back and complain when you havent had anyone you know die or get hospitalized with it.MIKE TYSON: "When you see me smash somebody's skull, you'll enjoy it."

In regards to UK contact tracing, it's been known for ages it's an absolute joke. Even from the start when there were not many cases to track, one guy who came back from Singapore was one of the earliest cases, they tracked and traced, notified the people they traced then a couple of weeks later they discovered loads of new cases all links to this one guy that they had missed, so even when dealing with small numbers they were incompetent.
They hired a company to staff the track and trace system that they had fined for defrauding the UK government on another contract, the staff received minimal training and obviously most never do any real work as highlighted by your link. It's no surprise this company is just scamming the government again and cashing in.
The government also rejected the Google/Apple tracing app to set up their own. Reason for rejecting it was they wanted a centralised system so they could get everyone's data in one place, which of course shady as **** from a government that illegally weaponised data during the Brexit campaign when using Cambridge Analytica to target voters. Of course they failed to make their app work and so had to back track after months and decide to use the Google/Apple app. How bad is it when corporations like Google and Apple are putting people's data and privacy ahead of your own government?
Suffice to say there's a good reason why the UK has a higher death rate than the US, despite the US doing poorly themselves in handling this pandemic. Trump maybe making decision based on political ambition but at least he isn't as moronic as Boris who even when trying is less effective than Trump not trying. Trump may have down played the virus but he's had the good sense to wear masks when not in public before his change in stance on the subject and not go around shaking peoples hands in hospitals. Boris on the other hand no mask, shaking hands like he's on invincible mode and big shock gets the virus. So America as bad as it gets at least you don't have the UK government at the helm.Bench -216lbs

Study: captured unexpected features of SARS-Cov-2 spike protein
>The unexpected features may help SARS-CoV-2 hide from the immune system and survive longer in the environment. They may also have implications for vaccine and therapeutic development.
>Intriguingly, they also found that the spike protein sometimes goes from its original "before" shape into the "after" form prematurely, without the virus binding to the ACE2 receptor.
>Being able to assume this alternate shape even without binding to a cell may help keep SARS-CoV-2 viable in the environment, preventing it from breaking down when it lands on a surface for example. That could explain why the virus appears to remain viable on various surfaces for hours to days.
>The postfusion shape could induce antibodies that do not neutralize the virus. In effect, the spikes in this form may act as decoys that distract the immune system.
>"We propose that there are two routes for the conformational changes. One is ACE2 dependent, and allows the virus to enter a host cell. The second is ACE2 independent."
>"The researchers speculate that having some spikes assume the post-fusion form prematurely may also protect SARS-CoV-2 from our immune system, inducing antibodies that are non-neutralizing and ineffective in containing the virus."

More on The Rabies connection
>SARS-CoV-2 undergoes rapid endocytosis following binding to the plasma membrane
>this cellular entry is through clathrin-mediated endocytosis
>it appears that SARS-CoV-2 first engages the plasma membrane, then rapidly enters the lumen of the endo****l system, strongly suggesting that fusion of the viral membrane occurs with the lumenal membrane of endosomes
https://jvi.asm.org/content/87/21/11637
>Uptake of Rabies Virus into Epithelial Cells by Clathrin-Mediated Endocytosis Depends upon Actin
>Productive infection of rVSV RABV G occurs through a clathrin-dependent endocytic pathway and requires endo****l acidification. To determine whether rVSV RABV G serves as a useful surrogate to study RABV entry and define the route of infection, we compared its sensitivity to inhibitors of different endocytic mechanisms with that of a recombinant single-cycle RABV virus, rRABV ΔG. We tested bafilomycin A1 (BAF A1), an inhibitor of the H+ ATPase pump which by blocking endo****l acidification eliminates the trigger of conformational rearrangements in G necessary for membrane fusion
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4963122/
>Collectively these studies provide evidence that rabies viruses are transported intact within endosomes, but the significance of this transport for productive infection has not been examined
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3600636/
>Rhabdoviruses enter host cells following internalization into endosomes, with the glycoprotein (G protein) mediating both receptor binding to host cells and fusion with the cellular membrane.
I wonder how the world will look like in 1 year. Brazil, India and a couple more countries will probably collapse. And that will effect the whole world. Food shortage, extreme weather, possible mutations. Damn, and cases are increasing in Europe again.

In our systematic review, we identified 10 RCTs that reported estimates of the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community from literature published during 1946–July 27, 2018. In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.51–1.20; I2 = 30%, p = 0.25) (Figure 2). One study evaluated the use of masks among pilgrims from Australia during the Hajj pilgrimage and reported no major difference in the risk for laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infection in the control or mask group (33). Two studies in university settings assessed the effectiveness of face masks for primary protection by monitoring the incidence of laboratory-confirmed influenza among student hall residents for 5 months (9,10). The overall reduction in ILI or laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in the face mask group was not significant in either studies (9,10). Study designs in the 7 household studies were slightly different: 1 study provided face masks and P2 respirators for household contacts only (34), another study evaluated face mask use as a source control for infected persons only (35), and the remaining studies provided masks for the infected persons as well as their close contacts (11–13,15,17). None of the household studies reported a significant reduction in secondary laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the face mask group (11–13,15,17,34,35). Most studies were underpowered because of limited sample size, and some studies also reported suboptimal adherence in the face mask group.
Of course this is buried in any google search.

Ever since AZ mask mandate, we have been hovering along at the worst daily new cases rate... April/May was fine, no masks.
My point: masks are legitimately pointless.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

I hope y'all are ready to struggle with this thing for a while..we have to live with sentiments like this
Next up is the first round of vaccine. Large populace don't trust trump administration. Then Another group doesn't trust fauci and crew.
Both trump and fauci will encourage getting the vaccine and both populations will be hesitant. Hell I can't say that I'm going to run out there ready to take the syringe either.
