Politics subforum is leaking.
I like how many call out the Democrats for "buying votes" when a bunch of guys on the MISC have said they voted for Trump for less taxes.

You know ALL your data/info and pics/life are constantly being monetized online by tech companies and corporations right? They're literally making billions off you for free. Alaska has an oil dividend that gets paid to EVERY citizen every year. Not sure why a Freedom Dividend is not more openly talked about or acceptable.

No because that $1k comes from a 10% tax on company revenue. Labor market will be impacted initially but overtime prices will rise on goods and services produced. Worst of all, poor people benefit more from welfare policies, so the upper class gets their money back after raising prices, the lower class gets money back through welfare, and the middle class is knocked down to the lower class unless they get lucky and make it to the upper class.

Taxes = Money that you earn that is taken by the government.
Yang bucks = Vote for me and I'll give you money for nothing. Except you pay higher taxes to fund this endeavor.
At the end of the day there are two primary idealogies here. One group of people wants to keep more of the money they earn through work/investing. The other group of people wants more money given to them. For no action on their part.
Obviously if you just live off of food stamps, welfare, disability, and in government housing and are unemployed. You want more free ****. If you have an actual job/career. You don't want to give away more of what you earn.
I have no idea why liberals don't just voluntarily give away more of their income to the needy. Take in a homeless person or illegal immigrant into their home. Etc. I have no problem with this. I just don't want to be forced to participate with them.

There are several valid criticisms of Yang's FD plan, like how it weakens current welfare recipients, how the VAT might not be tied in absolution to the UBI proposal, how a large portion of the UBI comes from "Increased Economy", or how its extremely unlikely a 10% VAT wouldn't cover the costs needed for a full 1k per person, but of course you won't find any of those criticisms here.

Depends on how many luxury goods you buy.
Regarding inflation, you aren't artificially increasing the supply of money. Here is an article on how UBI can affect inflation.

Giving people the power to purchase things can actually cause the price of goods and services to go down.MISC Strength Crew
