I workout about 4/5 days a week - bro splits.
I have tried about 5 brands of protein powder over the years and the moment the stuff hits the back of my throat I wretch really hard. I've given up. I'm not sure if it's an intolerance of mental block or something but it's gone.
So I don't take any protein shakes or bars - the only supplements I take are Vita B. Omegas and some fish oils.
Is this going to kill my "show some abs and grow some pecs" dream. Or can I still do this with chicken/turkey/fish + broc****/rice/pasta and protein bread(seed bread) with peanut butter for pre work snack?
Searched the forum here but some people see whey as a necessity and not a supplement really. Others not.

Whey makes me throw up every single time - do I really need it?

Let's set the record straight on whey for a second. It's just a powdered version of a dairy protein. That is literally it. It's easy to flavor, has a good amino profile, so its an easy supplement to make/sell/use. You would not notice a single difference in gains if you took in an extra 50g of protein from whey versus chicken/beef/pork/fish. Protein powder is a convenience, not a necessity. Getting adequate protein when weight training is more of a necessity. How you get that protein is up to you.

First you need to know if you are a lactose or gluten intolerance. Im actually intollerance to both and would suggest to go for nature isopure or kaged muscle micro whey protein isolate. It really worked for me and had no issues.
Or you can take any plant based protein or egg or beef protein powders.

A protein supplement should solely be used to help you reach your protein macros for the day.
It is by no means a requirement. It just helps make hitting those macro targets a little easier.Myprotein's Official Bodybuilding.com Lead Representative ✔

because I am insane, I actually did some trial and error with my doctor at the time (who is the man) to see how much protein I could actually process daily. It wasn't until I hit the ~475g mark that I began having significant excreted protein. It surprised both of us, and it's why I always aimed for 400g during my more intense years. Over the top, more than likely, but no negative effects and I always felt best when I was eating as much meat as possible. That said, 350g of protein via meat every day is a damn chore, and it's one of the reasons I look at chicken breast with disgust 99% of the time now ha

I had strings, but now I'm free
