Just a couple words on cortisol if you don't already know. It is a glucocorticoid, and also is synonymously referred to as hydrocortisone. "It is secreted by the adrenal gland in response to ACTH from the pituitary to stimulate fat and protein catabolism, gluconeogenisis, and the release of fatty acids and glucose into the blood. This help the body adapt to stress and repair damaged tissues. Glucocorticoids also have an anti-inflammatory effect; hydrocortisone is widely used in ointments to relieve swelling and other signs of inflammation. Excessive glucocorticoid secretion or medical use, however, suppresses the immune system" (1).

The immune suppression comes from inhibition of synthesis of leukotrines, prostaglandins, and antibodies. It also kills immature T and B cells which are two important families of cells for immunity (1). Cortisol also suppresses the secretion of sex hormones (ie testosterol, estrogen, leutinizing hormone) (1).

So on the one hand you need it, on the other hand it can be harmful. See a medical doctor if you are concerned.

Are you getting it from a specific product?

I've always used formutech youth for cortisol control with 7-keto with freakin awesome results. Works great for me, with my sleep schedule being all over the place working night shift.. it has done me way to much good.

Over the years DS Lean Xtreme was ok and last few years Cortisolve from MPA helped. I am finding ashwaghanda in a lot of MT products now like Prebuild. I only find the benefits trying to control cortisol levels in the last few weeks of comp prep as body is really stressed.

What product do you use for I3C(DIM)?
Been looking for this supplement ever since I found out about the hormonal benefits but have never found a stockist here in the UK.

@OP Vitamin C has great anti cortisol effects, especially after a CNS intense workout when cortisol levels spike.

Since cortisol is highly affected by sleep quality and quantity, i suggest looking into ZMA and GABA and melatonin. Also vitamin C and omega 3 (the higher the DHA the better) seems to lower cortisol. Some suggest taking vitamin C before training, to combat cortisol spike when training, some say take it after the workout.
