Just to throw an NFL contender in, I'd say Peyton Manning is a good example.
Won some national player of the year awards in high school, recruited by everybody (probably the most highly-touted recruit that year), with tons of hype. Went on to be number 1 pick in the draft after crushing it at Tennessee. Chosen to be inducted into the college football hall of fame this year: his first year of eligibility. Won the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards.
Pro career ended with 14 Pro Bowls, 5 NFL MVP awards, NFL 2000s all-decade team, broke the NFL records for career passing yards, career passing touch downs as well as single-season records in both.
I think you can probably call that a kid who was hyped as the next big thing and ended up being just that.

For hockey, Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky were both super-hyped as "once in a generation" type players when they came up. Both were the top dominant players of their eras. Eric Lindros came after them with the same hype and had a very good career, but fell a bit short of being the greatest. Still made the HOF at least.

Dude is one of the fiercest haters of Lebron on the misc. He lives across the ocean, but for some reason he can't get Lebron's name out of his head. I think it's a mental condition or something. Honestly it might be a good topic for a psych PhD. student to do a thesis on.

when it's all said and done he is a top 10 player of all time. Obv not a Jordan and probably not Kareem or Magic.
but lmfao at these laker cucks thinking his team in his first finals vs the Spurs anything remotely resembled a superteam or in his first finals vs the Warriors where they were missing Kyrie and Love. typical revisionist history to suit their false 'but but but he always had superteams" narrative.

hockey had orr, gretzky and lemieux live up to the hype. they were supposed to be the best players of all time and they were. you can make longevity arguments against orr and lemieux, but essentially everyone has them as the top 3 players of all time along with gretzky.
crosby more or less has lived up to the hype. he was supposed to be the best since lindros (or at least how good lindros was supposed to be) and he is. it's more where you slot him all time. i think most tempered their expectations a bit. he'll probably be top 5 for a lot of people, just not on the level of orr/gretzky/lemieux.

A lebron fan talking about someone being carried lol. Your boy jumped ship twice and formed stacked squads to beat up on the weak ass eastern conference. And still cant ****ing win consistently. Sad.
Shaq in his prime is better than lebron too if we want to bring him up.

Stop coping so hard
Lost to stacked Spurs, also beat them, lost to Stacked Warriors without his 2 and 3rd option, also beat them once, lost to 73-9 + KD team, lost to Mavs team lead by hungry vets that raped Lakers in playoffs by 30-40 points a game (sweep). Beat Celtics down 3-2 in ecf in Boston going 45 15 and 5. Literally had stretches he scored 15 straight points against them, never let them get in rhythm. Than had his way with OKC.
That equals 3xFMVP

How am i coping? i dont have to cope. Lebron fans are coping with lists of excuses to why he cant win in the finals consistently. Hes 3-5 whatever you listed is all fine and dandy but hes still lost more times than hes won. You cant say that about MJ,Kobe, or shaq. I dont have to list you excuses why they couldnt win as much. Lebron is a legit top 5 all time player but hes not the GOAT and never will be. That ship sailed like 3-4 finals ago when it became evident hes not gonna win alot of championships but instead spend his career cruising through the least and losing almost every time he faces the west in 7 game series.
