When the permit price goes up, which it inevitably will given the increase in demand, it makes killing the now more lucrative practice even harder

Honestly, these "hunts" look boring as fuk. BRB game warden chooses designated animal to kill. Game warden uses reserve tracking cameras to get idea of animals location. Warden holds your hand as you get out of the jeep and sit next to a bush. Boom.

Sure it does. These African Animal hunts generate massive amounts of revenue.

That revenue (theoretically) goes to the parks which allows for better security forces, better conservation methods, and land acquisition.

Often times the animals are marked for death anyway. Essentially you are letting someone pay you tens of thousands of dollars to kill something that you were going to need to pay a warden to put down anyway.

I am not familiar with the elephant situation, but the rhino hunts target exclusively past breeding age that often injure healthy younger animals. Even ignoring that there is a reason hunters are the best conservationists. Their own selfish interests end up dropping more money in for conservation than the tree huggers can even think of generating.
