You can't drive your car into people - sorry to burst your bubble. This isn't rocket science. If some crazy person is dancing in the intersection while I'm supposed to be able to turn that's too bad for me, if I hit them with my car I'm going to get in trouble.

There's a clear difference between a LARGE GROUP OF VIOLENT PROTESTORS preventing me from going and some crazy dude dancing in the intersection.

If you can't see that difference then there is no grounds we can communicate on because we're on different wavelengths.

They were walking in a cross walk. So you are supposedly a former cop.....

Basically if protestors surround you and you think you are in danger, you look to be legally allowed to drive slowly to get out of them. If they start becoming violent such as bashing the car, more force is allowed. From the video, it looks justified. The person wasn't just ramming through people immediately. They drove slowly and sped up when they started getting violent.

Not ok unless he didn't see the protestors because its dark and he has a green light. Unlikely but possible. We clearly only have a small portion of whats happening that we can see. Its also hard to determine if the car is speeding up or the framerate is manipulated to make it appear like it is.

If you're doing something intentionally that could cause bodily harm I'd call it assault.

This is what I am seeing,

protestors blocking the street -> car slowly moves forward we are talking inching forward -> protestors move in front of the car on purpose -> car still inches forward no one can get hurt by this, but car should NOT have proceeded -> people start hitting the car, one guy even jumps on the hood -> cops stop the car and looks like no one is hurt.

Yes, agreed. A kid should never be playing in the street either, but if you see that happening and you can stop your car in time to spare the kid you do it, you don't ram him on purpose and then quote the law that states the kid is at fault.

Like the kid, the protesters are being stupid, but not stupid enough to deserve getting purposefully rammed and possibly killed by a car. And no, there's no safe way to ram a 4000 lbs object into a person.

Driving through protesters might not be the best way to handle this situation, but it should definitely be legal as there is a legitimate claim to fearing for your safety, not to mention the fukin road is made for vehicle traffic.

Driving through protesters might not be the best way to handle this situation, but it should definitely be legal as there is a legitimate claim to fearing for your safety, not to mention the fukin road is made for vehicle traffic.
