rap is fun, plain and simple, but fuking LMAO @ taking any rapper as a serious musician when they never have to:
-dedicate tens of thousands of hours perfecting their craft
-improvise over complex chord changes and time signatures
-be a musical visionary
i highly doubt nas, kendrick or eminem spent even 5 hours a day writing rap verses for years on end
charlie parker used to practice 18 hours a day for years on end

rap is dead.
it was an interesting novelty for a couple of decades, but there is no denying it just doesn't have the staying power of other genres due to a questionable lack of actual talent needed.
What you hear on rap stations these days is basically pop/party songs with really catchy instrumentals and a hype man chanting in the background

Kids in the lunch room can "rap". It takes years to be able to sing opera, learn an instrument, or have your voice be audibly pleasing. No high notes, no low notes, just talking. But wait wait sometimes they talk really fast, so that's supposed to be impressive. I can appericate some rap though but lol if someone thinks rap > classical music in skill or natural born genetics.

zuhahu zuhaha zubahu hu
fihaha nuhaha zihaha nu
money
today's rap in a nutshell
brb
Call me Thorburn, John A., staff sergeant
Marksman, skilled in killin', illin', I'm able and willin'
Kill a village elephant, rapin' and pillage a village
Illegitimate killers, U.S. Military guerrillas
This ain't no real war, Vietnam ****
World War II, that's a war, this is just a military conflict
Soothin' drug abusin', Vietnamese women screwin'
Sex, gamblin' and boozin' — all this **** is amusin'
Bitches and guns, this is every man's dream
I don't wanna go home where I'm just an ordinary human being
Special Op, Huey chopper gun ship, run ****
Gook run when the minigun spit, won't miss
Kill ****, spit four-thousand bullets a minute
Victor Charlie, hair-trigger, hit it, I'm in it to win it
Get it, the lieutenant hinted, the villain, I been it
The killin', I did it, cripple, did it
Pictures I painted is vivid, live it
A wizard with weapons: the secret mission, we 'bout to begin it
Government funded, behind enemy lines
Bullets is sprayin', it's heatin' up a hundred degrees
The enemy's the North Vietnamese, bitch please!
Ain't no sweat, I'm told be at ease
Until I see the pilot got hit, and we 'bout to hit some trees
Tail rotor broke, crash land
American man in Cambodia, right in the enemy hand
Take a swig of the Whiskey to calm us
Them yellow men wearin' black pajamas
They wanna harm us, they all up on us
Bang bang, bullet hit my chest, feel no pain
To my left, the Captain caught a bullet right in his brain
Body parts flyin', loss of limbs, explosions
Bad intentions, I see my best friend's intestines
Pray to the one above, it's rainin', I'm covered in mud
I think I'm dyin', I feel dizzy, I'm losin' blood
I see my childhood, I'm back in the arms of my mother
I see my whole life, I see Christ, I see bright lights
I see Israelites, Muslims and Christians at peace, no fights
Black, Whites, Asians, people of all types
I must've died, then I woke up, surprised I'm alive
I'm in a hospital bed, they rescued me, I survived
I escaped the war, came back
But ain't escape Agent Orange: two of my kids born handicapped
Spastic, quadriplegia, micro cephalic
Cerebral palsy, cortical blindness — name it, they had it
My son died, he ain't live
But I still try to think positive, ‘cause in life, God take, God givebbsitum crew*

I agree.

That's stupid reasoning, it's easy in comparison to being a legit musician.
A rapper is a lyricist/songwriter, they're not musicians.
A musician needs an instrument, and while rappers are technically using their voice as an instrument, a singer exemplifies what it means to use your voice as an instrument. The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

Should we be comparing jazz guitarists to folk singer-songwriters? Because that's kind of what you're trying to do. Rap has never really been about crazy technical chops. Directness, storytelling ability, "flow" are valued. You wanna trash bob dylan for not having a wide vocal range while you're at it?

It's pretty much music for clubs, imo. They flood the radio with this **** and you get people listening to it outside of the club as well. Terrible, popular music has been a problem; it didn't start with mumble rappers of today. Some people will look at that video and instead of thinking "Wow, there are some **** rappers out there" they think "Wow, all rappers are terrible. Rap is a lost art form."
Bro, you're so over the top with your troll attempts that it's not coming across as believable. You need to tone it down, I'm telling you. It'll really elevate your game and you'll start seeing the results you never thought you would. Trolling is supposed to be subtle.★★★USF MISC CREW★★★

I think I understand what he's saying now after trying to find an example on youtube. I just saw a clip of Chance doing it, but he was jumping around and hyping up the crowd like crazy, so he's gotta catch his breath every now and then.
If that's all the evidence you need to say that rap is terrible, then alright, I guess.★★★USF MISC CREW★★★

What about guys like DJ Quick, legit musical prodigy, taught himself how to play like 7 instruments by age 11....writes,raps,produces,record producer,DJ......heck he was involved in nearly all the great stuff from the 90's.
