It's insane that the Penguins are up 3-1 on the Caps, the presidents trophy winner despite not having their best Dman, goalie, forward and captain. They've played the two toughest oppenents in the playoffs thus far while being depleted and they still look amazing(aside from the last game where I think they lucked out big time).
Is it crazy to think that if this team was healthy they'd be one of the best hockey teams in the modern Era? Stanley cup champs and look poised to win another consecutive. I was looking at their lines with Crosby, Sheary both back practicing and every line is straight dirty. Elite forwards, elite shot blocking, two high quality goaltenders...
That said I still think it would be in their best interest to play Crosby if he's available. As a banged up team you want to end it ASAP so the whole team can get some rest....And in game 4 they were unquestionably on their heels and would probably be looking at an even series if not for Orlov The Capitals are a good team, and definetly not out of it. Fleury has just been playing amazing and bailing them out.

with the lost starter narrative played by the media youd think the back up goalie was some no name guy who had never played in the playoffs before, not a prime aged goaltender who had backstopped the team to a cup as a starter and won an olympic gold medal (even tho he didnt play)
the media just tries to play this card to generate a story. Id take MAF over all the "starting goalies" remaining except Holtby and Lundquist SRSKeep mod discussions out of your sig line

hes outplaying the fuk out of holtby right now and is the main reason Pittsburgh is winning the series. The Capitals are taking advantage of the Pens injuries and have been outplaying them for the majority of the series, but the shotblocking by Pittsburgh(which is legendary) and Fleurys goaltending still has Pittsburgh on top.
A lot of goaltending is about where your at mentally and that confidence translating into a hotstreak. Fleury looked like dog**** this time of year last year. we see it a lot in the NHL playoffs. I remember a couple years ago the Flyers had some guy named Michael Leighton, a third stringer looking like a Vezina winner in the playoffs.

I like how you still spend you whole life denying MAF has let in more horrendous goals more often than any other starter in modern hockey.
HE is playing very well now, and outplaying Holtby this series, and maybe he'll continue... but let's not act like this is standard playoff form for him.12-5-23

lol looking at the Oilers HFBoard, as soon as the game ended they were all complaining about the reffing. LMAO. I don't give a fukk what the reffing was like, you blew a 3 goal lead in the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period. They shouldn't have even let them play overtime, they should've just automatically awarded the Ducks the win. Fukking pathetic.
