It's mostly required to wear gloves in the Army, and you definitely need them when deployed. I struggled to find a glove I liked, and randomly found a pair in our company's storage room. No one claimed them so I kept them and they soon turned into my absolute favorite pair.
I think they were made by Camelbak, after countless searches, but I'm still not sure. I had to retire them at the end of the deployment (and should have sooner) because they were so trashed. I still have them now with my other random Army chit but I won't wear them. I have since found regular Mexhanix gloves to be decent.
However, I have gotten away from using gloves when shooting, except the rare times it drops to the 30s. As I said, gloves are essentially a necessity while deployed, and to an extent even when training given the nature of it, but they're definitely not needed now IMO. It's also unlikely you'll have gloves on when having to use any weapons, so if you're going for consistency, don't wear them unless for weather.
Of course, if you attend some tactical shooting class or whatever that's going to have you doing a lot of moving around then I'd recommend them. The gloves definitely add some protection when moving around in that way.

Yeah, I went to C2 and while the snow had pretty much stopped by the time I got there, the whole drive there didn't seem promising. But, still had a decent time.
I'm mostly looking to use them for shooting at outdoor ranges, which I only go to for longer range for my rifle. I don't plan on using gloves for pistols. Like you said, you probably won't be wearing them while carrying. And while I don't want to wear gloves while trying to shoot long range, when it's cold I don't think I've got much of a choice..___.0_0_0.

I was there on Sunday only. I've seen some events in the past, what looked like pistol matches. I'm not so good with my pistols. I usually only go on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm almost only on the rifle range. If you've ever seen someone with an FDE Desert Tech, it's probably me.

I'll probably be there, would be interesting the see the match. I'd love to get into 3 gun someday, but for now I'm trying to get to the point of long range competitions.
So uh, I got no idea what that means. Srs. I'm leaving in a little under 3 weeks. It's gonna be a hell of a drive..___.0_0_0.

not navy but i went to an 'A' school on dam neck many years back. you're a submariner if I remember correctly, right?
Peabody's is some ****hole bar/club a street or two over from the beach where nothing good happens. I went there with some guys from my A school class and half the bar was blocked off for some degenerates playing dodgeball. one of the more interesting places I've been. I wouldn't recommend it.Baltimore Orioles

Gotcha. I've never been one to go to bars or clubs. Yeah, submariner, spent most of my time in Georgia, heading to Washington. Mostly so I don't have to work with the people I used to work with in Georgia. But, you were in the navy? What rate? Or a different branch?

I hope Washington treats you well, like you said that's going to be a hell of a road trip. Do you have any stops planned out along the way? There's some damn good national parks after the 1st half of your trip or so.
I'm still in the coast guard, got to attend I.S. 'A' school but ended up working with more CTTs and CTRs than anything.Baltimore Orioles

Bought my daughter her first electric guitar. Got it home . . . and she went all of 10 minutes before breaking a string tuning it. Do you think I bought extra strings before we left the store?
Nope.
So back in the Xterra for another 40 minute round trip to the guitar store to get some spares.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*
