We, are one of the same
Our stories untold
Running, waiting, for the skyfire to fall
Our minds, and our cries, share the pain
For we are nowhere, at all
But seek, a painting of a sun
Hold it bravely, it will soon become... Casimir in the dark...
And then, a skyfire fall apart
to the best!

I assume this is right at the tail end of Swedish House Mafia popularity into deadmau5 as a rising star? Did I get the timeline right? Anyways "mainstream" EDM got progressively worse imo, to the point where I simply can't even listen to it anymore. Just some big ass annoying buildups and retarded sounds that lower your IQ.

I just skimmed through some of them, very bad. Had to ALT-F4 out of Youtube when I heard the generic vocals kick in. If not the vocals, I ALT-F4'd out of YouTube when I heard the generic chorus kick in. The music you are showcasing sounds the exact same; take the first example 'Pryda - Miami to Atlanta', this sounds identical to almost every other EDM song I hear. It felt as if I had heard it hundreds of times (this was in fact my first time listening to it)
We all have our preferences and tastes; but what you are listening to lacks raw emotion and is frankly unimaginative.

I like Skrillex and listen to pretty much every genre out there (edm, rock, metal, classical, rap, pop etc). I have no favorite genres, just moods. I am very open minded when it comes to music. Not a fan of this era pop though.
Guess I'm low IQ because I like to blast this in my ears at the gym

My kind of (pop) EDM is the kind you can vibe to
All of this is even older than OP's requested time-period though I think. This is the kind of stuff I can imagine listening to on vacation on a Greek island, in a cocktail bar having a good time with friends and meeting tourist chicks, after you've spent the whole day on the beach, exploring the island, or checking out some historical sites. Then after a couple of mojitos you hit a club with something a bit harder playing, but not so hard it kills the summer vibes. Bouncy rhythm, groovy, subtle changes that end up having a big impact instead of the huuuuge drops.
Something tech/funky/house-ish like this:
Das it for me mayne, all I need.
