Gym was EMPTY today, including the owner. Excuses, excuses. I want a spotting robot.
So, I was not feeling strong today. I don't know if it's because I didn't remember my PWO, I've shoveled too much, or I'm just generally tired. I'm trying to look at the positives - I flat benched 100 FIVE TIMES! Rather than the "I didn't do what I was supposed to do." I am happy with my arch (I think it's looking better!), I didn't have to do the roll of shame (because I didn't go that far out of my comfort zone but whatevs), and my butt is sore (squeeze the butt is now my go-to cue). I am choosing to see today as an accomplishment, rather than beat myself up. Next week is a new week, and I have to psych myself up for DL test day tomorrow. Ha, I should go find some caffeine tabs to keep by my bed tonight
Regardless, I participated in this today: https://www.********.com/DisabledSpo...8466846190537/
It is such a small sacrifice in the big scheme of things to lift my tired arms and hold ski poles up as a symbolic thank you to those who risked their life for our country. It really makes me thankful for my life and my limbs to participate in this every year, as well as working for a company that does so much to help these brave men and women move forward in their life, learn new skills, be athletic, and enjoy the mountains.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Strong is getting to the threshold where you do occasionally miss reps. Coming in and hitting every goal every time means you are pushing hard enough. If there is one thing I know about strength its that WADE KNOWS HOW TO GET PEOPLE STRONG Trust in that and you'll be fine

I believe that! It wasn't long ago that I couldn't do 95x6 at all, much less it be the lowest weight work set I have. That's why I trying tot to beat myself up too much. It's really easy for me to get mad at myself, my body, feel like I'm letting him down. I have to look at my accomplishments

I am about to get on a plane but, something to always think aobut
I'm never going to care how you feel first. I will ask, did you execute, did you give it your best effort, then we can evaluate how you feel. #1 always will be execution.
There is never a reason to beat yourself up. You are already making great progress in a very little bit of time. There will be days like this and especially when you shovel as much as you do currently, benching will suffer the most. See it for what it is, it's a sessoins and this is not a sprint, it's a marathon.Squat: 1,040

Great work with the benching! Good luck with the DL test, attack it with the rage of 1,000 burning suns!!
This is an excellent cue for most any situation. Benching... squeeze your glutes, doing heavy squats... squeeze your glutes, getting chased by aggressive geese... definitely squeeze your glutes! srsCurrent PRs:
Bench Press: 200x1
Deads: 315x1
Back Squats: 275x1

So... I seriously underestimate myself. Remember last week when I had a goal to pull 200 this year?
Then I thought, pull 220 would be a good goal.
I just pulled 225.
Pull Test Day
Front squat
45x8
65x5
85x3
105x1
115x1
trap, raised
135x5
155x3
165x1
deadlift
135x1
155x1
175x1
190x1 (facetiming with Wade, no video)
205x1
215x1
225x0
225x1!
When I first tried 225, I didn't gut it out, and I knew it. Gave myself a couple minutes and then I told myself to just keep pushing even if it felt heavy. OH and I ate Reese's puffs before the gym = PR.
Out of time I will do abs at home tonight.
So, my new goal - 500 pound total. I'm not that far away!
OH and I forgot to tell you guys, a past training buddy from my marathon days was in town and I got to see her. Haven't seen her in forever. Her sister in law was there and was asking if we were training for any races. She pulls out her phone and goes on my IG and shows it to her, "This is what she's doing now." And the SIL looked at me kinda blankly, and then said, oh he does stuff like that" (talking about my friend's husbands cousin). The cousin had already rubbed me the wrong way, and he says "I do crossfit" Inside I was laughing, "OF COURSE YOU DO!"
That being said, I don't really think less of crossfitters, but I still thought it was funny.
Another busy weekend ahead! Looking forward to a couple days of rest, and hopefully this next storm doesn't pan out to be as big as they say. We are getting hammered. Hubs and I need to get out of town, and into the warmth somewhere. We are discussing all kinds of options, considering cost, recreation, and length of drive. We would love to get to the ocean, but that's a 6-7 hour drive. Maybe wine country on the westside, (4-5 hour drive), Vegas (5 hour drive), Reno (3 hour drive). Decisions, decisions.Team Ogre Mascot

On one hand I'm super happy, and excited for you, on the other I'm thinking "dis bitch just knocked out my goal pull for the year, so I'm like super envy right now..."
Reese's Puff PRs for the win! Penny says breaking the floor is the hard part, and to just drive right through your heels if you think you're going to fail. Not so much if you're compromising your back, but it's a good tip for those heavy ones.
Good luck with joining the 500 club. Chit I wish I could bench so I could work toward that goal too. T_T I'm sure you'll get there before you know it, you've been progressing great.PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

Does it help that I also have a good 40-50 pounds of weight on ya? Big girls can lift bigger
I think I didn't push through the first time because it felt ugly. But the second time I was like Whatever, who cares, just do it. If it's too heavy, Wade will drop the weight down. My back felt like it was rounding like crazy, but the vid looks okayTeam Ogre Mascot

Good plan
Yay! Thank you!
It's CRAZY! And it IS science !
Agreed!
Hahaha Wade said I would eventually be a 300lb puller but 250 is probably a good goal for now, or just shoot for the 500 totalTeam Ogre Mascot

Jumping in a tad late but... Nice work! I remember when I first hit 225 on deadlift. Wasn't even the plan but ended up going, hmmm let me try. I grinned like a fool after but it was late so no one was really around. Is an awesome feeling for sure and now you can make a goal for even more! 250 is a good start, then 275 or whatever you pick. ;-)

I would not be surprised to see 250 go before it's warm there. You are still learning and all while being consistent with training, I really feel like more progress is on its way.
