Hello all,
I have been looking for brands that make Unsweetened Supplements.
I would like to avoid specifically Sugar Substitutes, such as Sucralose.
I got in to drinking my coffee black 7 years ago and specifically avoided Splenda (sucralose), and now it is almost in every Protein Supplement...along with other sugars derived from Corn and Starches such as Maltodextrin and other additives, staple of the processed Foods Industry such as Xanthan Gum, .
I would like to avoid ingesting all that.
So, I would appreciate any pointers to any such product, I have been looking at many brands in the Offerings but all of them that I have found so far contain food additives that I want to avoid, as such maybe someone else already has found something so I am asking here. Maybe I simply missed the ones I am looking for.
Thank you

Probably better off just eating whole food forms of protein like meat, eggs, and dairy. I don't personally think sucralose is anything to worry about, but if you're really set on avoiding it and other sweeteners, I would just stick with whole foods.

Thank you, I am eating mainly whole foods, but I do use a pre-workout and also one to two protein Shakes a day depending.
I try to go for Stevia sweetened, but since I found great differences between certain brands, like from 50 different ingredients to some only having as many as four, I figured maybe there are Protein Supplements out there that simply offer Plain Whey Isolate no additives, etc etc.
And posting here to facilitate finding them.
Are you saying that no company out there offers this?
If not maybe there is an opportunity for some to start doing it then, there is a rising number of people who prefer to avoid Industrial Additives in their food. The need is there, what does marketing waiting for?
Tnanks kindly,

There's this one. There may be more here, but I couldn't figure out how to filter out sweeteners in the search engine.
You can't help the hopeless.

Thank you for looking Partyrocking, I did use the "Unsweetened" keyword and found some that meet the criteria.
No Sucralose, no Apartame, Artificial Flavours, Xanthan Gum, Carageenan Cellulose or even Xilitol (Alcohol Sugar) etc.
I have to make a note that there are some very nice ones which use Xilitol and Stevia, and are low on them too very low sugar and calories from sugars, which may be of interest to some but I did not include in the list bellow yet I wanted to mention that they do exist.
So the most Pure ones I was able to find are (in no specific order):
Pea Protein
ca.bodybuilding.com/store/now/peaprotein.html
Whey Protein
ca.bodybuilding.com/store/nb/perfectisopure.html
Whey Protein
ca.bodybuilding.com/store/jay/whey.html
Whey Protein
ca.bodybuilding.com/store/infinite-labs/100-percent-whey-isolate.html
I searched for Beef Protein as well and was not able to find many with above criteria (some of them even had aspartame!!), but the best one is this :
Beef Protein
ca.bodybuilding.com/store/olympian-labs/beef-protein.html
At 24g Protein (96 cal), and total calories of 110, where 5 come from Fats, there is a remainder of 9 calories which come from Sugar (plain old refined Sugar), sweetening is achieved with Stevia.
I'll go with these, posting my findings for anyone else that could be interested , I see other users use these too.
Thanks!

Go with a whey. Don't go with beef protein. Poor amino profile and low PDCAAS score. It is primarily collagen and gelatin, not beef muscle. I can't get the pea protein link to work, so I haven't a clue what you're looking at, but pea protein sometimes doesn't taste that great and doesn't always mix well...there are some vegan proteins that are good, but the particular one I'm thinking of definitely uses some type of sweetener because it's flavored.
Keep in mind that stevia is not natural...it is highly processed since the raw stevia leaf is not edible. There's more research on sucralose too...I'm not really concerned about either, but I'd trust sucralose as being safe before stevia.Olympus Labs Representative

Agreed, ideally the goal is to avoid all added sugars and substitutes including Stevia.
While the plant itself has been in use for more than 1500 years by certain cultures, today we are processing it to get the sweetness out. And it would defy the purpose if we replace one industrial processed compound with another now would it not?

^Second this.
All artificial sweetners (including stevia) have been shown to alter gut microbiota in ways that promote insulin resistance in mouse models and human subject. However, this was one study and the sample size of humans was tiny. Otherwise, reasonable use of artificial sweeteners doesn't seem to be overwhelmingly concerning.☑*CountryMike Appreciation Crew*☑

I'm more concerned with "why" you want to avoid artificial sweeteners?
There hasn't been any scientific evidence to suggest they are harmful to humans. At least, not in the rate at which we consume them.
Did you know water is harmful if you drink enough of it too? Stay safe, OP.BC, Canada
