Thank you Jam. I think the hardest part that finally hit me is how limited I am going to be. I had so much stuff to do around the house that I'm physically unable to do. That really sucks. I'm OK with rehabbing and doing everything I can to return to form, but to inconvenience others to pick up my slack is what's going to bother me the most.
- Building and erecting (heh) the Squat Rack that arrives in 3-4 weeks.
- Scraping, etching, and re-epoxying 1/4 of my garage floor that didn't properly cure (yep - that's new)
- Laying out the rubber mats and cutting to the garage dimensions
- Bring 500+ lbs of weights and bars into the garage when it's ready
- Setup of the treadmill
- Cleaning up all the debris and crap that has collected on the side of the house as a result of renovating the garage in preparation for the home gym
- Preparing my son for his new bedroom, which moving a couch, tv stand, office desk, TV, and a boat load of electronics from my current office into the guest room, moving a queen size bed from the guest room into my son's current room, and moving all of my sons room (bed, changing table, dresser, rocker, bookshelf, and all the wall decorations into my current office. There was also the expectation of painting his new room and converting his bed into a toddler bed.
And if that wasn't enough, here's the most important one for my wife:
- I can't take care of my own son. I can't lift him, move around with him, or anything. I'm immobile.
So, I think it finally hit me just how much this sucks. I'm not even sure what I should do about work. Request to work at home full-time while my knee heals (for how long) or attempt to drive 45 minutes in everyday. Or do I just take sick leave/disability and let someone else attempt to do my job without adequate training.

Klax, take the time you've got in your immobile state to do the **** you've wanted to do for years, but not had the chance due to being a busy body. I know it's making best of a bad situation, but things like picking up an instrument, reading, researching, learning, writing etc...

I've got a boatload of books that fully intend to read. Time to edumacate mahself.
Thanks - I'm doing the best I can. It's just disappointing that I'm going to burden others so much in the meantime. Or chit won't get done - which would bother me more
I do drive stick - and yes I'd like to avoid driving as much as possible. Although one of the perks of driving a 450HP V8 is that my right foot requires minimal ankle plantar flexion just to get the needle jumping. Driving isn't THAT bad. If it were my left knee, I'd be fuked.
Trying to. Thanks Necon. You and Barb should take a drive South to come cheer me upSnapchat/Instagram: Mimsthe3rd

They do produce a lot of that, but I'm no furry brah
Listen man, I just know what I like. And in this case, it's an ancient japanese tradition passed down from centuries.
And just like that, I became a weaboo.
I know the ones bro.
When I was like 16 and full of youthful curiosity, I learned many things about the world from the Japanese porn industry. Namely, that asian women have pixelated genitalia.
From the bone or from the base?
You know it bro.
Where the heck have you been brah? :O
Honestly, stop thinking about it as "putting your burden on somebody else." You're really not. You've injured yourself, and it's an injury that requires you to be immobile for a period of time. It's recovery, and those who care about you will be understanding of that.
Like you, I also put my pride in the way of stuff like this. I have a hard time accepting help and can feel like I'm burdening people by asking for help. But the thing is, it took a long time for me to realize that's not how it works. You're not a burden.
Right now, you can show your son one of the most important lessons of all.
That real men always get back up when they fall. That the injuries you sustain will not prevent you from being the best dad possible in every way you can possibly be at the current moment.
The way you handle this will show your son just how awesome you are. Don't forget that.

Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Thanks, I'm slowly starting to accept this. A good friend of mine and his brother will come by to construct my power rack when it arrives, and bring all my weights and bars into the garage. My wife obviously can't do this.
In return, I'll provide them with plenty of pizza and beer.
