I hate to say it, but losing to the Eagles was the best thing that could have happened. Winning would have only hurt them in the long run. Playing the Rams in London and having the 10th pick >>>>> playing the Seahawks in Seattle + 12th pick.
I'm sad to see Tom Coughlin go out like this. He deserved better but he made some head scratching decisions this year that directly cost them quite a few games. Still, I'm thankful he was the coach of the Giants the past 12 years. The lows were agonizing and his teams generally underachieved but he delivered two championships to the Giants for which I will always be grateful for.
Hopefully JR gets the axe. The defense was garbage all year and a lot of that was due to having terrible personnel. The Giants need to find a GM who signs talented players instead of giving out 1-2 year "prove-it" deals to starters on bad teams and backups on good teams and taking chances on guys who have an extensive injury history.NYG Eli Manning Crew Member -- "You gotta unleash the Manning!"

Indeed but the greatness started long before.
http://nypost.com/2016/01/03/how-tom...giants-return/
nice article,. sad to see him retire but at almost 70 he deserves to relax and enjoy his family.
The guess here is general manager Jerry Reese stays and Coughlin retires. The Giants need an obvious upgrade in personnel, and if the choice is the right coach, then the Giants could set themselves up for long-term success instead of hoping for one more season of glory from Coughlin.
“He’s like family to me,” Baker said. “I don’t ever want to see him go. But if he leaves, he can go out with his head held up high because he’s done so much for this organization and so much for us players who still use his work ethic.”
The players, former and current, are open to Coughlin returning. But Mara and Tisch have to bring an end to the Coughlin era. Losing to the coach-less Eagles ruined any chance for a happy ending.

Coughlin has a meeting with Mara and Tisch in a little less than 3 hours according to Dan Graziano.

Kinda agree but kinda conflicted.
07 first year of TC and JR and you know the results, and again in '11.
It's the injuries, always lead the damn league. I think they need to replace all conditioning staff as they suck.
Since TC is out, why not just clean house - but keep McAdoo and Spags, Eli had a great year statistically, just the D blows chunks + tons of injuries...
I doubt we'll ever see Cruz-OBJ-Randle together.

Either McAdoo, Sean McDermitt, Hue Jackson, Sean Payton, David Shaw, Doug Marrone, or Bill Cowher...I would be OK with. I think they all are reasonable candidates with positives and negatives for each. Would not be mad at any of these. I would not trade any draft picks for Payton though, only sign him if he's released.
Spags, Gruden, Chip Kelly, or Josh McDaniels = NO
Saban...ehh maybe I could get on board. Hopefully he learned from his experience with the Dolphins. He can clearly coach, but he had some horrible talent w/ the Dolphins, and they are just a pathetic franchise.
Haven't heard too many other names being thrown about that I can remember.Last edited by NewYorkGiants; 01-05-2016 at 06:50 AM.

watching this presser, at least Tom's part earlier - emotional feels
how quickly he walked off the stage and such...Mara mentioned he might stay on in an advisory role.
LOVE how the media asked probing questions such as:: why is reese still employed, trading draft picks for a coach? they slick
THOUGHTS:
All around very sh!tty few days in BIG BLUE NATION
crap season full of what-ifs, missed opportunities and tons of injuries like always.

Was listening to Mara on the phone with Mike on the fan today, and LOL'd hard at him saying the teams problem is personnel over the past 3 years but TC is the one who had to go. I agree the team needs a change. Not sure it was the right one.
They are trying to get on the Gase list. Spags will interview as a courtesy but he has no chance. I'm actually leaning towards giving McAdoo a shot. If it doesn't work with a few years you clean house Reese, Eli (if his play falls off), and the coaching staff and start over.

Just read that McAdoo may interview with Philly for the HC job..WTF.
If he leaves, not sure what will happen to this team - definitely not how Eli pictured his remaining years..
That presser yesterday, man, so many feels..esp with Coach to Eli.
Reese is an asshat, I was hoping the whole time Mara would say " ya know 8 yrs is a really long time for a GM, and we're making a change.."
But no, the wrong man is no longer there.
The problem was D and the GM. Period. Coaching is on point, just made a few suspect calls this year.

Thoughts on Marrone? I feel like hes the front runner, not sure if I can get on board. Not because hes a bad coach or anything but he pretty much left Buffalo to find a better job and got spurned. Hard to stand by someone like that

Like always, I agree with you. 110%
It's been a crappy and depressing week related to our beloved GMEN..
ELI and TC for Eli's entire career, storybook like how Strahan stayed his whole career. Once a Giant, always a Giant.
If we have to pick a new HC, I say Adam Gase from the Bears...and bring Rolle back too.

Die hard NYG fan along with entire family.
We all agreed we wanted coughlin for 2 more years keeping ben macadoo as OC for 2 more years. Let cruz beckham manning light it up next year. We had oyr entire defense injured having to put special teams players out there as our defense.
If anything the GM reese should have gone and not tom.
Especially after listening to Mara bash reese in his press conferance yet never say why he stayed and tom went.
This leads me to believe reese and mara met before hand and decided all the blame would fall on them for the day so tom could have a nice going away party and that be the end. Reading between the lines i think in all reality they believe tom lost a little as his age progresses but in no way were they going to admit that. So they took all the blame to save face vs telling the world "we think this old man is to senile to do the job"
Just my .02
Regardless the 2 superbowls will be forever cherrished. Those runs were amazing and wont be forgotten.New York
