I've read everywhere that 5x5 is great for Strength but I haven't seen much about muscle mass. I'm much more interested in strength training but I would like to have some mass, so I thought I could add barbell curls (once per week).
I don't wanna lack in my upper arms, especially my shoulders.
I'm planning on doing a 5 month bulk, 3 months 5X5 and then have a break and do some more specific hypertrophy training for 2 months if my mass gains don't work out.

Depends on which "5x5" you're talking about, but generally, if you start out, say, Benching 95, Squatting 135, and Deadlifting 185, how do you think you'll look after you've built up to, say, a 225 Bench, a 315 Squat, and a 405 Deadlift?
Don't forget to eat and get plenty of sleep. No brain, no gain.

Yes. I did it and built a lot of muscle, a lot of dense muscle. Just make sure you do some isolation afterburners AFTER ur heavy sets for whatevers lagging.
Like the guy above said, if you're benchin 100 and a few months later 225, I can bet on it that you will be bigger. Take some before/after pics and you'll see.
