Question Does 5x5 build noticeable muscle?

I've read everywhere that 5x5 is great for Strength but I haven't seen much about muscle mass. I'm much more interested in strength training but I would like to have some mass, so I thought I could add barbell curls (once per week).

I don't wanna lack in my upper arms, especially my shoulders.

I'm planning on doing a 5 month bulk, 3 months 5X5 and then have a break and do some more specific hypertrophy training for 2 months if my mass gains don't work out.

Pick one program and stick with it as long as you can progress.

A 5x5 will get you strength and size. You don't have to do one if you don't want to; they're not magic but if you're going to do a program, see it through.

You won't blow up like a balloon, if that's what you're looking for. But your muscles will grow in size as they get stronger.

You'll have no issues gaining mass doing 5x5 on a bulk. If your bench, squat, and deadlift are increasing, so should your overall muscle mass.

Depends on which "5x5" you're talking about, but generally, if you start out, say, Benching 95, Squatting 135, and Deadlifting 185, how do you think you'll look after you've built up to, say, a 225 Bench, a 315 Squat, and a 405 Deadlift?

    This OP.

Programme hopping has to be one of the most common reasons novices don't make progress.

Yes. I did it and built a lot of muscle, a lot of dense muscle. Just make sure you do some isolation afterburners AFTER ur heavy sets for whatevers lagging.
Like the guy above said, if you're benchin 100 and a few months later 225, I can bet on it that you will be bigger. Take some before/after pics and you'll see.
