Hi. I'm studying for a very very hard test and some guy at the gym recommended I take some supplements to improve focus/clarity.
He said I should look for Ginkgo for focus and Brahmi/Gotu Kola for memory. I currently take a multi-vitamin/fish oil/zinc/biotin (don't hate) and vitamin D (every other day). Can anyone recommend me any focus/memory enhancing supplements or give me an idea of what I should look for in supplements? Thank you!

Brain/Focus Supplements
Brain and focus supplements are also referred to as “cognitive enhancers” or “nootropics.” There’s a lot of different types and research out there on them. The best broad painting advice I can give about them is that they work in pieces to enhance certain components of brain function, so nothing is a “fix all” nootropic and certainly results vary and can be difficult to assess.
There are structural functional nootropics like choline- the component of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. The idea here is that if you provide enough substrate to build a healthy brain chemistry- you will enhance your brain power down the road.
There are stimulants like caffeine. These won’t make you smarter, per say, but will increase mental stimulation and alertness.
There are other nootropics like GABA or 5-HTP or melatonin, etc, that interact with the brain’s chemistry but aren’t necessarily stimulants or structural components of the brain.
You might be surprised as to what is considered a nootropic. It’s a very interesting and exciting topic in research. I supplement with some myself and I can personally speak of an improvement in productivity and mental prowess.

Caffeine Free Focus XT is a good one to check out; tastes good too.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
