I use straps on my top working sets right now, primarily because I try to keep the weight distribution even and tend to twist a little when using a mixed grip. Also my grip will hold for just about anything on 1 rep, but going for 5 reps it's going to start to fail toward the end on those top sets. That vid was from a few years ago right before my appendix crapped out. I'm probably about back to the same level now, finally but it's been tough getting back for some reason. At the time I was planning to shoot over 500 for the 1rm and was easily on track to get it too.
lolwut, have not seen anything about that.

my grip strength has honestly gone to complete chit from using the straps. I can hardly deadlift 315 for more than a few reps without them on. Unracking 405 from the bottom rung on the squat rack from dead lifts is difficult for me to hold the weight and back up. not good at all.
bout to go smash chest. day lifting ftw.Your Dreams are within reach

I've never done anything special, just work up my lifts without straps until I get to the point where I can't hold on anymore. With the trap bar I do shrugs with sets of 275 for 15 reps with no straps, guessing that probably helps quite a bit.
I got squat/bench/row today in about two hours. Think I'll go for 5 sets of 5 straight across on the squats, not feeling the power for heavier weight today.

Sounds like Madcow 5x5 or 5/3/1 would be perfect.
I do follow several programs but have a bit of programmatic ADD and don't seem to stick with a single one very long.
Check this out, hit that and plug in your stats then click on the Programs tab and it lays out some good stuff for you. Within each program you select there are more radios up top for variations of the program. I *love* the 5/3/1 Triumvirate program but right now I don't have enough workout days available per week to do it properly.

Those power cleans will wear you out man, be sure the form is good and they're different than other lifts in that if you don't use ENOUGH weight it's tough to get the form down lol.
But, the 5/3/1 Triumvirate program doesn't call for either of those, they're basic lifts. Mon - Press, Tue - Dead, Thu - Bench, Fri - Squat... plus a few accessories and some back stuff thrown in so as not to be neglected.

I used to have all sorts of problems with my knees. My right knee absolutely cannot stand treadmills for some reason, it will kill me and ache for days after running on the treadmill. My left knee will not tolerate more than a couple Leg Press sessions, I can do them every now and then but if I add them to a routine and do them for a couple weeks that left knee craps out. I cut both of those out and reset my squat form back down to ass to ground and so far my knees haven't given me any issues whatsoever in well over a year. I did pop a hamstring a couple weeks ago but I've been going in dehydrated on both days I had hammie issues.

Nice, Yea basically that's what the PT wants me to do. My left arch was falling and in turn I favored that leg, between that and my week ankles when I hike or run I favor using my outside quads 80-90% of the time. Which tightened my hammies and pulls my kneecap weird giving me patella tendinitis. Had me doing all kinds of accessory muscle work and squat form stuff, I can run outside and hike without problem, but sprinting and pressing I am not up to par yet.Stats 6'6" 245lbs

Any of you gents get out and do or doing any hunting this year? I'm in eastern europe for a few more weeks, when I get back it's game time for deer. North Carolina deer though, if you can consider them deer. Lol. I'm a Colorado native so hunting out east isn't all that great to me. But it'll do.

I'll be popping in Mon-Thu until February.
I'm heading West on weekends hunting a lake in West Texas that's public land with lots of pressure. Makes for tough hunting but very rewarding when it works out. Just got back, weekend sucked due to some guys constantly walking the canyon ridges and busting deer out but they all went home and I had a great hunt Sunday evening... covered up in deer but no shot opportunities, two doe got extremely lucky with small branches covering their vitals where they stopped. They won't be so lucky next weekend...
