Well they never agreed to any of that in the beginning, and she certainly paid for all those shots and vet care without the expectation of reimbursement. She should ask to be paid for it, and the lady should pay it, but in no way is there an enforceable contract or right to withhold the dog. A dry cleaner or mechanic can hold your clothes or car until you pay but there was no consideration or payment discussed here. If someone asks you to watch they're car while they're overseas for a month, and you think the car's ugly so you have it repainted, you can't charge the guy for the paint job when he gets back. If he took another month to get back that doesn't change anything other than make you not responsible for the item past the agreed upon time. In this case there is no benefit to the bailee so she had minimal duty to care for the dog. But she didn't have to "improve" the dog and if she did so it is at her expense.

The "agreement" was for less than 3 HOURS.
I understand the whole possession thing, but at this point wouldn't it fall on the bish who abandoned him to prove that he was in fact hers?
I'm fairly certain if she chooses to get the police involved this will not end well. (meaning the dog will have to go back, not that there will be any violence or anything)
The money doesn't really matter to her (it pisses me off), but she is more concerned the little guy finds a good home. The original owner is obviously not that.*MFC*

I agree with the first part entirely.
The only thing I can see is that according to the vet the dog would have died if she hadn't gotten him the medication. Wouldn't abandoning an underfed, and diseased animal fall under animal neglect?
Again, the money is not the issue. The issue is the fact that the puppy would go back into the possession of someone who treats animals this way.*MFC*

In North Carolina, abandonment of an animal is a crime. But there is no time limit. If you leave an animal with a vet for more than 10 days it is presumed abandoned, and the vet has no liability for disposal. Here the lady showed intent to retrieve the dog when she dropped it off (no abandonment intent), and in fact came back to retrieve the dog, albeit a long time later, so you can't really go for abandonment here I think. Cruelty to animals is also a crime but requires more than neglect; there has to be pain, torture, poison, etc. There is no animal neglect like there is child neglect, unless actual pain is inflicted enough to call it cruelty.
It's really not your call whether she is a good owner or not. And you asked if she has to prove it's hers. If she says it's hers, it is presumed hers. Your girlfriend would have to lie and say it isn't hers, and you don't want to get into that.

Sucks to hear, mm. Not sure what I would do.
Insane.
Agreed. I have a BCM CH but Pro sent it to me. Doubt I'd pay for anything more than a mil spec CH in the future.
Is this how I was when I was talking about mountaineering a lot?Misc Firearms Crew

This is exactly what I was afraid of. I kind of figured that's how it might play out if it comes down to it. Hopefully it doesn't.
She is in Texas btw. Hopefully they have a different setup there as far as how they handle it. I'm not too optimistic though.
Sad thing is she had people lined up to come see if he was compatible with their daughter this weekend. Could have been free and clear of the situation. I will probably suggest to her she makes sure the original bish owner isn't going to try to come back before she hands him off to a potential new family and complicates things even more.*MFC*

Collet bushing and non-ramped barrel. Very unreliable and ammo-specific especially with modern large-cavity JHP and 8-round mags unless the gun is carefully throated, polished, fitted, etc. I would take a nice custom fit 70 but that is not PSA's forte. It's going to be mass-produced. It will probably have at least a throated barrel I hope. They haven't shown the internals yet.
As for the firing pin safety, I can feel the plunger in the trigger when I shoot mine but I don't mind it. It shoots like a two-stage trigger and breaks very cleanly on both of mine.

WELL WE HAD A SUCCESSFUL HUNT, MY SON GOT HIS FIRST BUCK ON THE SECOND DAY OF OUR HUNT AROUND 6 IN THE MORNING, ABOUT A 200 YARD RUNING SHOT WITH HIS 243. I GOT MINE THAT SAME DAY AROUND 515PM RUNNING SHOT AROUND 100 YARDS WITH MY 30-06. NOT THE BIGGEST BUCKS, BUT TO PUT THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE OUR UNIT IS KNOWN AS A TOUGH HUNT AND SOME OF MY FRIENDS ARE STILL OUT THERE ON DAY 7 AND HAVENT GOT ANYTHING YET.
