    Carb Cycling and Water Weight

    Hey guys,

So i just finished my 12 week cut a week ago (165 lbs --> 143 lbs) and for the past week I have been eating a bit too much (dam that junk food) and have put on about 15 lbs. I was carb cycling (the last week I was only on 35 carbs per day [im only 5'7]) so I know most of it is water weight, glycogen, etc but I just wanted to be reassured that this is normal?

Also, does anyone know roughly how long water weight takes to stabilise and should i expect to retain all this weight?

    Thanks!

Usually a week or two is all it takes.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

This probably can be not just a water retention. If you eat alot in the whole week, you gained something "other" too.
    Its not wierd

Another example as to why going low carb/carb cycling is pointless.

Works for those who are really mentally strong. If you're one of those, low-carb is win.

Actually, it worked quite well for me and I achieved a good amount of weight loss. This water weight is dropping every day and so I don't see how it would be pointless?

Because it was my first time carb cycling and I wanted some opinions based on personal experiences, which is one of the purposes of a forum.

Water weight is useless weight to lose unless you have a reason to be dry, like a competition; most prefer to lose fat which is done with a regular deficit all the same. It also means you would not need to avoid carbs and all of the delicious foods containing them.

Thank you for explaining it in an informative manner and I do understand now why some people see it that way. I wanted to try it and so I did but I do agree that all you need is calories in vs calories out Its good to shake things up in my opinion
