They usually say if they're open to amateur competitors. My younger brother has done a couple and has continued to keep hassling me so we're aiming for a show in May. It's a national qualifier but has novice classes as well. It's fun to do it that way because you still see some pretty crazy showings in the open too. I was actually going to do physique because I have no interest in getting stomped in open BB, but this class was a welcome surprise. I'm a hair under 5' 11" so 200lb cap for me. Doable for sure.

Going by those weights, they still want "enhanced" athletes, but to a lesser degree. At my height someone would have to weigh 225 at stage ready condition. That is MASSIVE.
This will be the division with the most inspirational physiques for sure though. Going back to small waists...I LOVE how that is the main criteria in judging. Will be fun to see the athletes who decide to compete in these shows.

Apparently neither Sadik nor Buendia are interested in competing in CP next year.
Nothing against the individual guys who compete in MP. Sadik and Buendia have unreal physiques. They actually embody the ideals of bodybuilding. They have legs, great lines and symmetry and really, they have size to boot.
That said, I think MP is a freaking joke. No real objective criteria. The board shorts and posing routines make it look like a glorified male modeling contest. They may as well call it men's figure.
The top guys look great. But I have a hard time respecting the division itself. This is of course just my opinion.

I needed this division thirteen years ago. That said, its just classic bodybuilding more or less, just with different wording, classic physique.
