Bro, you were doing 10x300 in 2011, I'm just wondering why are you still working with the same weights 4 years later? Sorry if I missed something. I'm not being funny, you're powerful af, I just wonder because I am getting up near 300 for my bench now, is it a plateau or just a preferred training weight?

Injuries mostly. My best competition bench was 452 back in Dec 2013. I moved halfway across the country and had a kid in the next few months, so I lost some progress there. I hit 405x6 and 413x4 a couple month ago (on bench), but two injuries later I'm just slowly working my way back up. I'm still nowhere near where I was at my peak, but hopefully with a few months of higher rep work I can build that base back up without hurting myself and make another push toward that 500.

If I could go back in time, I'd tell myself not to try to train through significant injuries. I've also had multiple back injuries that put me out for 3 to 6 months, in addition to probably 4 or 5 significant pec strains, but I have a really bad habit of trying to get back into heavy training way too fast. And don't neglect mobility work. I'm trying to take my own advice right now and keep myself from loading up 4 plates and seeing what happens.

Don't remember what I did for my last bench session.
Today 8/18
Angelina's out of town, so I decided to go to a gym and squat instead of the basement. A couple guys I trained with for a couple months before I had a baby and whatnot started a gym, so I went to check it out. Undecided if I'll actually join up because I'm not sure I can commit to making it often enough to justify paying for it when that's kind of the whole reason I bought my own stuff.. but we'll see.

Definitely sleeve rep PR. Felt pretty solid, might have had another rep or two in me, but I haven't done over 365 since I hurt my quad, so I didn't want to push it too hard. Tornado warning in the area and got to drive home through a monsoon. There was a wall of clouds almost touching the ground, but I didn't see any rotating.Best Sanctioned Lifts (USPA/USAPL):

Nice to see you persevering and making the best of your situation (new baby) and getting your training sessions in regularly.
Play it safe with the benching, wanna see you smash that big 5 hundo bench eventually so don't go and do something dumb and get injured lol.Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Been a while since I've posted anything, mostly because I haven't really done much. I did throw 435 on the bar for some deadlift the other day and it was actually fairly easy. Usually that's about the ceiling of my non-meet deadlifts. Bench has been it's usual suckiness. I squatted 565 in wraps the other day, but I had my belt on funny so it crushed my ribs and I stopped after one rep. I did get some decent work in today on squat though.
Worked up to 550 for a single in sleeves, then repped out 405 til I was gassed.

Messed around here and there. Squats are feeling decent. Bench feels beyond awful. There's a meet in December I might do. At this rate I may go 700-400. Anyway, today I worked up to 635x2, which I think is a double PR. It felt good too, rep left in the tank.

Hit 655x2 on squat a week or so ago. I decided to join up at the gym the guys I used to train with opened so I can get some sessions in with other guys who lift heavy weights. So tonight I Worked up to 430x1 on bench which is probably the heaviest I've handled in 6 months at least.
Doing a meet in December.. should be interesting.Best Sanctioned Lifts (USPA/USAPL):

Squatted 665 last night at Battlegrounds. Had kind of a goofy wrap job, tried something different. Not really a good idea on a PR attempt in retrospect. Also, my feet were staggered, but I didn't notice. But it's still a PR.

The time has finally come!
I did the RPS Holly Jolly Bash at Barbell Central in Aurora IL. I didn't really plan on doing a meet, but I decided to go for it about 4 weeks out. I didn't really train bench or deadlift (not that that's unusual) leading up to the meet, mostly just squat because that's all I like doing anymore. Anyway, I competed at 275, I've been walking around at about 285 plus or minus these days. Anyway, here's the writeup:
Squat:
Attempt 1- 633, good. Not used to squatting with a mono at all, in fact, I've done it twice in my life, and the last time was about 2 years ago. My weight was not quite lined up right so I kind of pitched back in the hole, but it was easy enough to not matter.
Attempt 2-666, no lift on depth. First time I've missed a lift on depth in like 5 years. I wasn't really expecting the depth to be terribly strict here, but they actually called it pretty tight.
Attempt 3-672, good. I was hoping to go higher, but that miss on the 2nd kind of messed with me so I just went up to 305kg. Crushed it for an easy 3 whites and a meet PR.
Bench:
Attempt 1: 402, good.
Attempt 2: 424, good.
Attempt 3: 440, good! First 200kg bench in 2 years, so I was pretty pumped about that. Also, this gave me a real shot at finally breaking 1600!
Deadlift:
As per usual, I hadn't done much of this in training. I actually wasn't even sure if I was going sumo or conventional until warmups. I decided on sumo.
Attempt 1: 435, good.
Attempt 2: 490 to break the 1600 mark.. and it's good! The quest to 1600 is now complete!
Attempt 3: 507 to break my deadlift PR.. and it's good! Up to 1620 total!
So, overall it went super awesome. 672-440-507 for a 1620 total.
The meet was.. slow to say the least. Lifting started at 0930 with 4 flights. I was in flight 3. I squatted around 1230, benched around 430, and did my last deadlift around 08:45. PM. And the longest flight was still to come. I don't think it was over til after 11, but I didn't stay around. Now, I need a new quest.
