Who was the guy Vince's men roughed up? He crossed Vince somehow but I don't see the connection. Did he run a business that kicked up percentages to him or something?

Enjoying the show. I pretty much completely detach it from S1 however, was in another league - this current season can probably top out at the best of "normal" cop shows.
I'm leaning towards 0% chance Farrell is dead as he is clearly the most interesting character on the show and the best actor. I doubt it was even real bullets because the damage from that would keep him out of commission for a long ass time.#FreeCryptoBandit

I hope this show gets better because I'm rapidly losing interest.
Feels like they're trying WAY too hard to be "dark and edgy".... whereas S1 just pulled it off effortlessly. I'm having a problem connecting to any of the characters too. Really don't give a chit about any of them at this point (in stark contrast to Woody and Matt).

what chit, idk how anyone can justify any hate based on TWO EPISODES. people are being completely delusional and only remembering the overall feel of S1. S1 was absolutely fantastic but you need to rewatch the show if you dont remember that the first two episodes of S1 were also all dialogue and setup just like this is now. nothing truly intense happened till like E3 or E4 of S1, if anything this has a major cliff hanger much sooner than S1 did.

It's not out of line to say they are being very blunt with this season. BRB Taylor Kitsch appears to have either been sexed by his mom, or sold to dudes who banged him out. Now could be gay? Also was a part of some private security company that did ****ed up stuff. Rachel McAdams... also has some weird commune background, stripper sister, some kind of "hard ass", felt it necessary to show us she likes anal / watching chicks get DPed. Farrell's character... wife was raped and had a son that probably isn't his, rips his son, brass knuckle beat down to dads for their kids bullying, kills people etc.
It wasn't like that in S1, but if you were expecting S1 stuff this time around you probably had mismanaged expectations.#FreeCryptoBandit

I think it's that S1 felt more natural. This season feels forced on us. Kitsch's character is forcing his tough guy facade, and I can't take McAdams seriously as a hard ass. I don't think the speed is throwing me off, compared to the speed of the first 2 last season (the first 2 episodes from last season were VERY slow as well) I just feel like the acting and the roles that the characters are falling into (minus Farrell, I do think he's doing phenomenally) are coming off as way too forced.

Main characters most likely picked for case due to their fcuked up backgrounds. If they end up actually solving case/finding anything incriminating they can just be fed to the wolves to cover up for shady police department/city government. Hence the foreshadowing when Farrell asks McAdamds "Get the feeling we're really not meant to solve this?".

I just hope that scumbag mayor gets what's coming to him. Reeks of sh*tball human being all around. The actor's def doing a good job looking and acting the typical "corrupt politician" part. Clearly he had something to do with the Casper murder too
But for some reason, I don't think he has the brains or mental fortitude to orchestrate this entire conspiracy/criminal operation. He's a drunkard stooge who whines about kickbacks. I'm sure things will go much higher up in the food chain.

Sexual abuse/violence is obviously a huge part of this season so far. Almost every character has dealt with it in some way.
- Farrell's wife being raped and having a child as a result
- McAdams being pissed about not taking it in the pooper in episode 1, then the porn in episode 2.
- Kitsch's hesitance towards his girlfriend in ep 1 and his handsy mom in ep 2
- Ben Caspere's little sex house and all the sex stuff at his main house.
I'm really starting to think this is all going to be involved, in one way or another, with the Tuttle Cult from season 1 and I think that maybe Kitsch and/or McAdams have suffered from it earlier in their lives.

it'd be awesome if they connect it back to the Tuttle clan but it seems like that's an overreaching theory.
definitely agree that Kitsch and McAdams probably were sexually abused when they were younger. McAdams' family is all sorts of fuked up lmao. brb crazy hippee father (although he did say some pretty insightful things in EP1), 2 siblings in prison, and 2 siblings who committed suicide. Kitsch is def on that ****gytime

In S1, it wasn't so much that the Tuttle cult was around for decades but rather they did their disgusting acts during a brief period (post Hurricane-Andrew?) and then stopped. It was simply that the high-powered Tuttle's covered the acts up for decades. I think The Yellow King and Ladeoux's were acting on their own accords by continuing to kill. I certainly don't believe the Tuttles had anything to do with all that.
