Hey guys,
so I know there are many threads on oatmeal, but I don't see to be finding exactly what I'm looking for.
I want to know, with regards to building muscle, when is the optimal time to be eating oatmeal? I'm not sure whether I should be eating it after my workout before bed, or in the morning, or before my workout.
I always drink a protein shake immediately after my workout, and eat dinner when I go home. My dinner always has either rice, potato, etc. Should I also eat a bowl of oatmeal after my dinner and before bed? Or is that a bad idea? I used to eat a banana after my workout with my shake before dinner, but I read that that's also bad. Do I just rely on my dinners carbs and thats it? Are too many carbs bad post workout?
Thanks, stay swole.

When you get hungry and feel like oatmeal?
Love the stuff myself, eat it whenever.
Don't go all OCD on oat timing. You know what builds optimal muscle? Training hard and resting when you are done. Eating well/10, not tripping out on running an oatmeal countdown.
You can read this though:

You don't have to eat anything at a particular time... you don't even have to eat any oatmeal at all if you get tired of it/don't like it/etc.
There is no "magic number" or nutrition plan that is optimal for building muscle.
Ejnar nailed it - when you're building muscle, you need to train hard, eat well (as in eating enough to build and repair muscle - in a slight surplus if bulking), and rest regularly. It's about progress, not perfection.
I'm not an expert when it comes to most aspects of life; sometimes, I have no idea what I'm doing. The more I learn, the more I can do, and the more I can pay it forward and help others.
