What that guy does sounds pretty funny, I'd love to see a video of that lol
But I do use the Smith for leg press every once in a while. My gym only has the type of LP where you sit in the seat and press your legs straight out in front of you. It puts a ton of pressure on my lower back, it's uncomfortable.

Here's a video of hip thirst on leg extension. I can't post links yet so I put a space on the link.
The only thing I'm unable to get in and out of the leg extension graciously. It looks extremely awkward. But I do it because there's no setup involved.

yeah, agreed.
It wasn't too long ago (we're talking a few months) where my bf had to spot me incline dumbbell pressing just 12lb in each hand. A guy nearby saw us and laughed. His reaction was really disappointing for me and annoying.
It's annoying seeing threads about creepy/disrespectful guys in the gym and how we hate them and then seeing posts like this. If we knew the way some other women thought about others in the gym maybe it would be the gals in the gym who we would really fear, not the guys.

Same for me. I remember being really intimidated to get in the weight section at my local Y, about 3 years ago... My BF was there for support and maybe it looked like he spotted me while pressing 10 pounds weights, but yeah it helped for encouragement and it made me feel a little less awkward.
It's kind of amazing to think about this realize the progress though. As long as you're actually training (i.e. and not texting, walking around, etc.)... We all had to start somewhere. I'm actually happy to see more and more girls lifting at the gym.Mom of two boys. Natural competitor.
