mountain biker here. If I'm doing "urban" riding for whatever reason, I always ride on sidewalks if possible. If I have to ride in the road, I hug the shoulder as tight as I can.
roadies are a different storie, it seems like 75% are huge d-bags who think they own the road. They ride 2 wide sticking out into the road and don't move over. It's especially bad on back roads where there's blind corners. some of them are just asking for it★★★ I'm a Victim of Circumstance ★★★

itt 50% of miscers once again prove they're a bunch of lazy impatient fuks.
Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee

Oh so the guy in the minivan with a 4000lb cage doesn't have a duty NOT to cut people off? The minivan had plenty of time to wait for a clearing. You could tell the minivan was trying to start something ... hence him getting out of his car all threatening. No matter what... the bicyclist had the right of way not the minivan. If the minivan did that to a car and caused a dent he would be at fault.
The difference is that you can speed up much faster on a motorcycle than a bicycle. You don't have to worry about people running into you because you're going so slow. Motorcycles are louder and more visible than bicycles too.Last edited by faxanadu; 03-13-2015 at 10:35 AM.

Clearly you did not read what I wrote so I'll restate in plain and simple terms. The majority of local road funding comes from general taxation revenue, which everyone pays into regardless of whether or not they drive. In fact, as cyclists require considerably less infrastructure and maintenance costs, an argument can be made that cyclists and those who do not drive are actually subsidizing motorized vehicle usage. See the link I posted earlier for detailed number crunching.

get bent opie
Bikes are a much better mode of transportation for cities, if cities were designed around cycling and walking we would be living in MUCH MUCH MUCH liveable cities. Bikes have every right to be on the road, if it pisses you off it's not the cyclist fault, it's your chit city planner fault that can design proper infrastructure
brb
Just a phucking coat of paint and some will and you will get a much safer and liveable city for everyone.

i'm on the same page. Been riding to work for 2 yrs and I ride on shoulders & try to avoid main roads as much as I can - never go on roads that have 40 mph limit or higher (unless making turns at the intersection and no other route).
I've read quite a few road rage threads on misc over the years and the #1 reason is slow drivers. Brb raging at slow driver but it's okay for cyclists to be riding way below speed limit and causing blockage? Idgaf when they're keeping up with traffic, but most of the time they don't. Every time a car tries to go around to pass, that's another accident waiting to happen, and if driver hits the cyclist, they're legally fked in the ass and the cyclist is then injured.
Not a problem on 25-30 mph or slower roads, anything higher than that they should consider before riding. Just trying to be safe for both cyclists and drivers on the road.Last edited by max1122; 03-13-2015 at 03:23 PM.
