NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Robert, you'd be proud of me. I really wanted to rip somebody a new one, but I refrained. I took the high road once again. So effing high, I'm dying a little inside every minute as I sit here.
I started the day listening to sugar pop, but I am ending it with Slayer.

That's awesome barb. My dad went to top, but sadly bad weather came in, lots of clouds and view was not as good as he hoped for. The two guys he was hiking with both got ill from altitude sickness because they were clowns.
Heh, still remember my dad wearing his Vasque's around the neighborhood for walks every evening to get them broken back in. And then taking longer walks with his pack. He went with an old aluminium boy scout pack. Baller/10

That's awesome. How old was your dad when he did it? This trip is going to be all 22-miles in one day, but at a slow pace. I don't need to carry a big, heavy pack. I need to figure out shoes though. I have light mountaineering boots, but I don't know if they'd be right for this. I am planning to camp at the Portal to help acclimate to the altitude. I could stay at a motel in the nearest town, but it's 4000 feet lower. I think I can handle camping for one night.
There's still room to join in, Robert. Let me know if you're interested.

Yep it sucks, which is why I consume most of my calories in the evening and just snack on cookies n stuff during the day.
Oh and in terms of my inability to gaining, I've noticed something. I am like constantly twitching, bouncing my legs especially when I sit at the computer, it feels uncomfortable if I don't do it and try to consciously stop.
Oh and for Muzziechick and the ladies in general.
To put that in perspective, 900 calories per day is equivalent to about an hour and a half of hard exercise. That’s a ton of calories burned through nothing but fidgeting. Unfortunately, it also looks like NEAT is genetically determined; either you upregulate NEAT during overfeeding or you don’t. One more thing, in this particular study, women consistently had the smallest NEAT response.
In addition, it looks like the capacity to increase NEAT is tied to the adaptive downregulation of metabolism during dieting. One study found that the same people who were best able to increase metabolism during overfeeding had the smallest drop in metabolic rate during dieting and vice versa; the folks who’s metabolism went up the least during overfeeding had the biggest drop in metabolic rate during dieting.
Researchers referred to this as ‘spendthrift’ (store excess calories poorly, lose weight easily) and ‘thrifty’ (store excess calories easily, lose weight poorly) phenotypes. We might call them the genetically blessed and the genetically ****ed. The latter individuals not only have the hardest time losing fat because their metabolisms crash the hardest and fastest, they will tend to store fat the most readily. My story going from obese to fit while battling daily chronic headaches:

Spend a week in AZ, hopefully a week or so in Maui, maybe visit a friend Plano, learn Python and maybe some Java, start kayaking/sea-kayaking and/or learn how to sail. Expand my volunteering. If I decide to move to a house (I kind of like the no responsibility and cheapness of my current place), get a dog. My guppy, Jerome, died last week. His replacement, Ragnar the cichlid, will hopefully be as long or longer-lived. But a fish is a ppoor substitute for a dog.

It is possible since I don't track and only estimate Last few weeks from rough estimate is: 600-800kcal worth of protein bars (luuuv em), 600-800 from cookies, dinners around 2000 (saaaauuuceee and calorie dense side dishes ftw) around 1k from my big bowl of cereal and full fat milk with protein powder and I'd guess 500-1k on top of that from ice cream, cake, candy, chips, chocolate etc.
and some days I have 4-8 eggs, 4-6 slices of bread (with butter, mayo, tons of meat, pb, chocolate spread etc.)big glass of milk and juice for breakfast and still eat everything else.
Oooo and 1-4 cans of sugary monster.
Pretty much my daily consumption, if dinners are lean meats etc. I add stuff like deep fried jalapeno poppers, chili cheese, onion rings etc.
I am going to order some gainer shakes, I seriously cannot eat more food.My story going from obese to fit while battling daily chronic headaches:

The leader has done it twice already, so he's giving a lot of practical advice. The hike starts at midnight. Watching the sun rise will be amazing. I'm not worried about my feet, but my knees are another story. I'll be bringing knee straps and a Costco-sized bottle of Advil.

I really want to go out walking tonight, but a woman was attacked this morning while she was running on one of the local trails. She fought him off, and the guy ran towards my neighborhood. The police are still searching for him. I think I'll just stay in.
