02-16-2015, 05:00 PM #181"Powerlifters shout at bodybuilders because bodybuilding produces mountains of muscle tissue with no functional purpose. Strongman competitors look down on powerlifters because there's more to strength than a one-rep max in three lifts performed with a minuscule range of motion. Olympic lifters, if you can find them, get to feel smug because every 4 years, you can turn on the TV at 3 AM and see them compete for gold. And everyone hates on CrossFit."

Fuk I learned PEMDAS but forget it. So when I looked at it I got 16 (the new way). Am I a genius?
I do agree with other posters saying better use of perentheses would correct the ambiguity.
That said, with this new standard, how many kids are gonna go home, get help from their parents and come to school with the wrong answers? This is confusing as fuk if a kid is learning one way in school, being corrected by parents, etc etc.

Do this in the K programming language, you will get 1.
It has no order of operations, just respects parens and parses right to left.

And that is how it was written.
When will people understand that when things are typed/digital, there is only ONE answer. As the digital syntax/standard requires the use of brackets.
The only reason brackets aren't used properly these days is because people are used to WRITING these equations down. In today's world, the use of brackets is becoming more and more important.
You give that same equation in the op to anyone who programmes or is involved with mathematics in a serious sense will tell you it's 1.2014 Misc Resolution: Negging no pics (screen captures of text don't count as pics)

whomever negged me for my answers needs to go back and watch this. And people using excel and other **** are a clowns. Humans programmed those and with programs you cant have two different answers to the same equation. They picked one convention but there are 2 answers because the question itself is faulty. You use brackets or write it like my previous post. They way it's written here leaves it open to interpretation. No real serious mathematician would write it that way to begin with.
