I'm not entirely sold on this moneyball boner thing either. I think it's great and necessary for small market teams, but should be dialed back when you're in a large market mostly because you don't need to be cheap. Yankee ball is still the most successful in terms of actual championships.
Friedman has no rings. Neither does the new GM.
So I ain't one of those blind *******s agreeing and jerking off to their every move. Last season was a 94 win team. The idea was we needed bullpen help and another starter. Now we just got two old infielders and lost our best bat.

He fixed our defense but at the cost of some power in Ramirez. He also worsen our defense at catcher. And we also lost speed on the bases. We lost big RH power in the OF and inserted an unproven Joc to fill the shoes. Sorry but I'll never be sold on this Grandal thing
Let's stop pretending these moves are perfect.
Do you like, get that?Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. Rollins is 36 years old - he's solid, but definitely has lost a step. Howie is solid, but he is THEEE master at booting the easiest grounder hit right at him. They are good players & best of all (for Friedman) is that their contracts run out at the end of 2015.
It's true the Dodgers current payroll is/was unsustainable, but I think big market fans want some star power to match some of what was lost in Hanley & Kemp. Dodger fans are still stinging from the McCourt salary dump during his last years as owner. But the off season isn't over yet, let's see what else Friedman does.

He didn't make our defense weak at catcher. AJ Ellis didn't do anything in the run game last year…and Zack and Clay are great in the run game anyway.
Grandal has better pitch framing metrics than Ellis whose pitch framing metrics were terrible…so they went with Grandal….nevermind that Grandal is a switch bat and has more pop in his bat.
I don't care how old Rollins is. He plays good defense. We haven't had good defense at SS in years.
Survey says Howie Kendrick is a plus defender….better than Dee Gordon…oh, guess what…he also has more pop and extra base hits in his bat than Dee too.
Joc…unproven…he's still going to be a plus defender in Center.
SVS….unproven…still a good LF…takes good routes…has the most HR per at bat on the team last year.
Lose star players….add defense.
Lose power….get some of it back….it's not the worst thing in the world that we don't have the AL East lineup Coletti built…considering how much better we got in other aspects of the game.
oh btw.
before Clayton gave up that 3 run bomb…there were 2 plays before that put runners on.
yea, up the middle defense is important. It's the difference between being down in that game 3-2 or up 2-1.

in regard to power #'s
Rollins, Grandal and Kendrick = 39 HR's in 2014
Kemp, Hanley, Ellis and dee (lol, i know) = 43 HR's in 2014
I know Kemp and Hanley are capable of hitting 50 just between the both of them if they both stay healthy but what are the odds of that?
plus, Joc will hopefully hit some.

I think I read that Grandal only threw out 17% of runners last season m.
That's pathetic Peter.
You know stolen bases matter in the playoffs?
We could talk about stats and argue them in our favor all day.

Would not be surprised if Kemp hits the 30 club.
Let's just wait and phucking see how everything pans out *******s. Time will tell if Kemp and Dee were worth trading based on the performance of them and the return.
I'm just rustled about the Kemp trade. Because imagine if Joc is for real, and Puig gets better, and Kemp stays healthy. that would have been our strongest OFLook, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. Definitely more to it than HR numbers, but just thought that was interesting. and there's no doubt that lost time to injury affected their numbers but with both of their recent track records, it would be hard to assume that they'll both play full, healthy seasons next year.
I'm still on the fence about the Kemp trade, since as of now, it hasn't led to any other moves and is starting to look like wanting to dump his salary had a lot to do with it. Kemp reminds me a lot of Bynum. when he's healthy, he's damn good, but do you wanna risk keeping him, having him be consistently hurt and then he'll have absolutely no trade value.
fuu, i just wish the season would start already.

the kid just came over from cuba, a lot of pressure was put on him, they made him switch positions, and he still hit really well in the minor league. I'm optimistic, of course a lot of people are expecting the same results with what puig did which is unfair to the kid. Another year in the minor leagues can help him adjust to mlb baseball.

Ethier, at this point, is probably like "I don't give a phuck trade me you *******s, peace"
So whatever.
I think if Kemp was injury prone or glass no way he would have hit 17 bombs and hit as well as he did in the SECOND half. If anything he would have had a quick surge in the beginning then die out cause his "body couldn't take it anymore" second half fatigue or whatever these baseball fortune tellers will have you believe. People act like 1 year older actually means anything... Do people really think turning 30 automatically makes you bad hip grandpa status in baseball?
How I see it Kemp finally has the whole offseason to train train train and train; he didn't have that for a while. More months for his ankle and shoulder to rest and chit.
I'll take his shady defense and loss of speed any phucking day of the week if it meant seeing bison blasts every other game.
God damn this is still hard to accept.
