nope. it's brave but i'm glad you're taking the risk... idk. every day we weigh the risks, right? necessary vs. unnecessary ones. people who lift 400 lbs are taking on unnecessary risks. you decide for yourself what consequences you're willing to live with.

we have the Appalachian Trail up here so i was looking for a list of assaults on the trail (i remembered the story of a rape a few years ago) when i found this just now http://appalachiantrials.com/guns-youll-need/

"If you find yourself alone with a stranger giving you bad vibes, make a choice and take the appropriate action to keep yourself safe and comfortable."
i lol'd... anyway, she's against carrying guns on the trail. looks like she sometimes partners up with the people she meets on hikes. i know you carry a knife and i think i read that you have a spray?

here's another http://appalachiantrials.com/danger-...chian-trail-2/. can't tell. i think this was written by a girl? she has a hiking partner, though.

    and another. http://appalachiantrailgirl.com/2014...to-avoid-them/

all are saying the risks are low.

my primary concerns re. hiking solo (for a guy or girl) are about wildlife - bobcats and bears, etc., and injuries.

lol! i had to use some confectioner's/powdered sugar in my coffee and i was thinking - wth's in this?! according to wiki, it has a small amount of an "anti-caking" agent in it.

    ...

    aaand good morning, all.
Confectioners sugar or powdered sugar has cornstarch in it.

Yes, it's a calculated risk, but the other dangers, besides the risk of injuries, are rare. I only carry a knife, no bear or pepper spray. I'm terrified of coming across large animals like a mountain lion or bear.

Most of the people I meet are genuinely friendly and helpful. I partnered up with a nice guy from Olympia, WA when I was having trouble getting back to the trailhead on one trip. I hate getting lost though. The fear really kicks in when I can't figure out where I am.

I've only met one person that gave me bad vibes, but not in a "this guy is gonna rape me" kind of way. He was just weird, very hippie. He kept talking about moving stones from one peak to another. I saw him later in the day as I was leaving in my car, far from where he needed to be and going in the wrong direction. I wanted to tell him to turn around, but I thought he might ask for a ride. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I just left. I still feel guilty about it, but it was the safe thing to do. I've learned to trust my instincts (with people and locations too)..

Eta: I think the women who are too scared to go out by themselves are lacking the confidence in their own abilities.

Eta2: I personally love the challenge. The question is always, can I do it? It's an amazing feeling when you can say YES! And it's fun.

But see, if you were prepared and had the gear, you would at least consider it. I'm talking about the women who who write off going by themselves, because they "just can't". You don't need any experience or gear to go hiking. It's just walking on dirt. There are plenty of nice trails that you can enjoy with only a pair of sneakers and a backpack.

Edit: The new stuff I'm getting into, no one wants to come along, guys nor gals.

you're right. you're most definitely right. i've done that kind of hiking.

i've been experimenting with different dosa (crepe) batters over here. i made a savory one with green chilies, *nions, bajra (millet) and other flours, and flax seeds. it came out crunchy with a soft center - nothing like a crepe for consistency, but it was tasty.

Holy ****! I think I would be too scared to even move. While I was in a ranger station, I collected like 3-4 pamphlets on bear safety. You know what they all said? DON'T HIKE SOLO!

Made rice pudding after gym yesterday. First time, wife is happy, it's here favorite desert.

Today was the joy of working on my aging clothes dryer. Time to start shopping for an appliance sale.

Got a few good chuckles with the walmart stories and the redbaron comments haha. (and the bear story haha)

Also I got a pretty good deal on a full copy of windows 8 64 bit so im going to get to tinker with that soon. (ive been curious since ive used it a bit in the past) One thing I did like about it was that it was more memory efficient from what I read.

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

I want a new laptop. I have no clue where to even start. My cousins do fancy upgrades like you, but I want a whole new one. Can't spend too much on it though.

Don't you have like 3 GPS's, 2 smartphone, and an ipad mini on you at all times?

you will see more of a boost from the cpu.
This article states even the fastest nvidia gpu doesn't see a boost of more than 1.5 fps at 4k resolution going from 2.0 to 3.0.

    Nice CPU though.
