You're gonna have a bad time with that brush. If it's not too late, I'd cancel that part of your order and buy something else. See if you can find an Omega boar on Amazon, sometimes they have them.
You don't need to move on to another razor, it's just that some of us like having a few options. Razors differ in materials used to make them, aggressiveness/blade gap, weight, handle length/girth, open comb vs. closed comb, etc. Its hard to know what you like in a razor unless you try a few of them out.
Which soap/cream will you be using?

You move if the razor you have is not working for you. The difference in material and workmanship is a big difference in razor choice. The modern razor companies like Merkur, ATT, Ed Jagger, Muele all have good choices and are recommended. In vintage Gillette trumps all, even modern razor companies.

Try a 2 band silver tip brush, they have good backbone and are luxurious for your face. I have the Wet Shaving Products/ prince model .http://wetshavingproducts.com/

Head shaving requires a slight learning curve, it is easy once you get it. I use a Slim set at one, or a Ed Jagger with an Astra blade.
These shavers at B&B are pros and have great tips http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...ver-s-Check-InIIFYM crews ....I Reps back.

Damn, first shave ever with a razorock soap and it was flawless. Not as slick as my other stuff (mikes/MWF) but pass 2 and 3 were awesome. No irritation, amazing smell. On the bright side its a super soft soap so I could lather with my silvertip.
9.8/10. Would recommend.I like fast cars, nice watches, sharp knives, and good smells.

Coming in here makes me sad.... I sent my straights out to be honed and I am still looking at another week or two. I still shave with my super-speed but it isn't that same.......
