Marriage is an archaic concept.

Whilst the idea of Social Welfare as a concept is great and it acts as a safety net for those that lose their jobs through unfortunate circumstances etc etc, far to many people take the piss out of the system and something should be done about it.

Theres is nothing democratic about a democracy.

College loans should work like they do in England. You don't start paying it back until you make "X" dollars/year. And if you don't hit that X amount in X number of years it gets waived.

Not sure of the actual quantities, but that's how it works. And in Scotland it's free.

Welfare recipients should have to do some kind of community service while getting benefits. Whether it be picking up trash, or whatever. I figure it will either mean the society as a whole is benefitting at least somewhat by the money they're giving the person, or the person would be more motivated to find employment so they can make more money doing less crappy of a job.

There needs to be more emphasis on studying the human brain in order to help those with mental and personality disorders. That can help prevent a lot of the serial and mass killings that happens in the U.S.

There needs to be less stigma against those with mental illnesses, treat them less than human and they will act that way and not take their damn meds. Psych. is still in it's infancy stages and we are still using shaming and ECT (Electronic Convulsive Therapy) which is draconian and it's almost 2015. Lots of people on the dole due untreated mental illnesses.

Religious leaders should be taxed because they pull in an income. It does not go against the separation of church and state to tax an individual imo.

edit: i know this event occurred before the cold war, but my point is that the political system of the USSR allowed very evil people near absolute power, and that the spread of these ideologies to other countries would only (and did) result in millions upon millions of deaths and untold misery. the cold war, in my perspective, was absolutely justified even if some of the methods used by the U.S. were questionable.

AIG crashed hard right after a huge payday by the government. I played that as a daytrade and it's a complete POS. I made a tiny bit off it ($400) overnight flip, but there are so many bagholders, how many reverse splits did they go through after taking advantage of gubmint cheddar?

There are so many other companies that could have taken AIG's place if they failed.

Would it have been painful for a brief moment? Yes.

Are we doing better now that we bailed out that bloated donkey of a company?
