Has anyone used his program? I've seen some of his video critiques on other programs and they seemed pretty good. I downloaded the book today and the spreadsheet and was going to give it a shot. I got away from powerlifting for a few months to learn how to do the Olympic Lifts, now I wanna get back to powerlifting and start over and do things the right way, like I should have. I was going to do Madcows, but the PowerliftingToWin program looks very interesting, but I never hear anyone talk about it.

He put out his program like what, 1 or 2 months ago? It's brand new. A lot of people don't know about it. A lot of people just started it. There isn't gonna be a whole lot results yet for you to find. Instead, start up a log, get on the program and let the rest of us know how it works for you.

I'm about to hop on it myself now that I've stalled on ICF. Rather than deload, I'd rather move to a new program now that my lifting goals have changed and I want to compete some time next year. I've read the book and watched a lot of his videos - it's very safe to say Izzy knows what he's talking about. Give it a go, I doubt you'll be disappointed. His eventual application of autoregulation is very smart.

I'm not knocking anybody but to be honest in my opinion you should just run actual RTS. Izzy does a whole lot of work and knows his stuff but for the most part the whole website boils down to "RTS is the best" and "every other style of training is dependent on restoratives and/or not optimal for a natural lifter."

Weren't you posting about how westside was the best side a while ago? Then did the Alex Viada westside plus running thing, then 10/20 life? Then the olympic lifts?
Just pick something and do it and you'll get better. Izzy is a smart guy and his programs will likely work well for you so long as you stick to it. I've been talking to him recently and am moving to doing his intermediate program #1 (more or less..) to prep for my meet on Nov 8th.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

I was doing the Alex Viada Westside thing, but the running volume wasn't enough and I was getting beat up with the maxing twice a week. I had always incorporated some sort of Olympic lifts, but I had the opportunity to learn the Olympic lifts from a real good coach in my area and I could not pass it up. I started incorporating the 10/20/life RPE principals into what I was doing because maxing out was beating me up and I'm not going back to maxing out. So I was just interested in the PowerliftingToWin style because I like the RPE instead of using percentages. The only thing that I'm not liking is the Deadlifting 3x per week. That isn't happening at my age.

RPE doesn't work for everyone. I would venture to say that some people need percentage based programming. Others just progress and do not consider percentages but still do prescribed sets x reps (look at BombDonald's training for instance).
If you are getting stronger do not mess with it. Put your head back to the grind and stop looking around or it will cost you. Just sayin.

I quickly read through Izzy's ebook after reading this thread and got some perspective out of it, as more perspective never hurt anybody. Then I made what's turning out to be a ****ty post in retrospect. I'm well and good with no intentions of program hopping. Conversely, I started a log on here basically to pimp Wendler's "1000% Awesome" template that has given my training a new fire, and track my progress on it. If I get to strictly focusing on a PL total and nothing else, I likely will get off 5/3/1 but I don't foresee that any time soon and so I'm solid. Good advice though.

lol all that
OP you know you don't have to hit max effort twice a week for bench and sq/dl every week all the time right? You can deload in many ways and schedule the rotation many ways. You don't have to stick with the basic 4 day(2ME/2DE)/week template right? You can incorporate RPE, amraps, straight weight, slingshots, and all these new fangled... Oh no wait everything out there has always been around and nothing is really new.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

I've been running the PTW intermediate phase 1 program for a while now and making fantastic progress. It's getting to me a 1300 total in the 181 class, you can see my log here:
