Oh my god I'm so busy lately. Work has been insane (end of month billings and such) and I haven't stopped. I pretty much come to work, work my butt off until 5:00 and go home, lol! Oh my goodness. And then buying a car and trying to get it insured and everything....My brain is going to explode! Today after work we have to go to the dealership to finalize it all, so yesterday I did a full on heavy upper body workout since I'm probably only going to get 3 days in the gym this week. Plus there's been a huge heat wave here...hottest it's ever been so I was glad to get away from 8x8 yesterday...I'd die of heat stroke, hahaha! Anyway, here is what I did:
Heavy Upper!!!
Chest Press:
3.5x12 (warm-up)
Floor Presses: 3x3-5
50’sx5
50’sx4
50’sx3
Upright Cable Rows: 3x3-5
2.5x10
5.5x7 (PR!)
5.5x5
5.5x5
Standing Rows: 3x3-5
3.5x10
6.5x5
6.5x4
6.5x4
Rope Curls: 3x3-5 reps
2.5x10
4.5x3
3.5 + 5lbs x5
3.5 + 5lbs x5
Cable Skullcrushers: 3x3-5
2.5x10
4.5x1
3.5x6
3.5x5
3.5x4
I've been lurking in all your journals when I get a chance during the day but never any time to post. I get home late most days and I'm never on the computer once I leave work. But I am keeping up!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Congrats on the car, hopefully you got something fun and/or something that shoots fire to clear the Canadian snow in your path. Got pretty sick of driving in a snowstorm every 3 days here last winter, time to get the sled dogs to pull me on my ironmaster lifting bench so I can get to work easier.

That's like here! But we've had really warm temps (~28 or so on average) and then this week the humidex is in the 40's! No rain here either! It's weird for us, we usually get weeks of fog and drizzle, not straight sunny skies and hot temps for weeks. Hottest it's been here now since 1840!
Super crazy! I'm SO glad the weekend is almost here!
YAY!
Doesn't normally get that cold here either! last year was an exception though. Crazy weather patterns/changes going on!
Thanks! We now own the car in the pic above Whoooooo!

Hoy! So we vegged out on Friday night, went on a grueling 2 hour hike in the hot sun yesterday. Destination was a cabin and a pond but we never made it due to running from wasps and wasp nests, lol!!!! Very unrewarding! Then we were just dead when we got home. Hung out with our friend who was on vacation and who's last night is tonight before going back to Ontario, so beers and BBQ were had.
Then woke up this morning feeling pretty tired, and a little hungover. Didn't help that it's TOM and I had some wicked cramps alllll night despite the BC that I'm taking. Was hoping that would lessen the pain but it's just been constant now for days/nights. Ugh. Anyway, drinking some coffee and trying to liven up a little. I will try to muster the strength to do a leg workout later! And then there's some cleaning that needs to be done.
Looking forward to work this week because Wednesday is Regatta day which means the city shuts down/work closes if it goes ahead, and the woman who I assist at work 95% of the day is going on vacation so it'll be nice and quiet for once after Wednesday. These next two days might be crazy though, lol! And I'll probably take another few days off the following week. Stephen and I are trying to plan a camping trip together before the summer is over!
Happy Sunday! I can't believe it's Sunday already! :/Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

No workout today! Went down on the rocks and vegged out for a bit...put my feet in the ocean and splashed around a little, lol! That's about it though I am hungover today. I am very tired. I can hardly stay awake. So I'm ok with not lifting. Only got two workouts in this week but life happens! It has occurred to me that there are only a few weeks left of summer! Kind of looking forward to the fall/cooler weather. It's a little more adventure friendly!
Also got me thinking about lifting/programs/goals. I am super happy with how I look at the moment! I don't think I'm ever going to bulk again at this point. My legs are thick enough, the only way I'd like them more now is if they were leaner but I'm still happy! Same thing with my arms....They have great shape and muscle definition. And my abs look cool, I found a new vein on one of my upper abs last week! And I still have my lower one. Weighed in at 121.4lbs yesterday. So the only route I'm taking is recomping more at this point.
Right now I'm being super relaxed with everything, lol!!! Haven't counted cals in about 2 months Just don't have time for logging/don't care. But I'm starting to want to take charge more and work towards something. I like working towards something! Maybe start a recomping diet/plan or start up 5/3/1 and do 8x8 for my accessory lifts, you know, something I've been doing so well though being relaxed. Strength is going up, feel like I'm getting leaner/look like I'm getting more muscular, weekends are totally relaxed. Meh! Thinking of starting a plan, might just say screw it though.
It is fun making strength goals though. I miss that excitement of hitting cool PR's. My back feels pretty good these days! The only thing keeping me from trying to increase my lifts is not always having access to Benching/Overhead pressing/Rack Pulls <--which would be my main lifts if I started 5/3/1 again, plus something for legs. Because we don't always have access to the main gym we use, and the alternate one is kind of lacking. I'm at a loss as to what I'd do for a leg movement. I hate squats, always did and always will, lol!! And deads frighten me now. Love g/h raises and all the lunge variations I do...I'd love to be able to do g/h raises weighted.
Hmm! Ponder ponder. I always like writing things down and formulating plans this way, lol!!! Journalling is starting to get boring for me and lifting is way secondary or tertiary in terms of priorities lately. Just not as fun without direction. Hmm!Last edited by gobbles23; 08-03-2014 at 12:13 PM.

I agree 100% with needing a direction...you can still maintain your relaxed mindset with a new goal in mind, Lori! Especially if it's a strength goal and not a weight goal. You look AMAZING!!

Thanks You're right! It's just hard when you're not consistently lifting in one gym and don't always have access to a bench, or a variety of db's :/ I miss having my own home gym! Using someone elses is cool and all, but I miss the freedom of having my own space :/ And I can't afford a membership. I'd rather build up my own then get a membership but we're lacking on space.....

Well! lol! Had a bit of a lay-off from lifting weights! Life happened and so I just let it. I figured a bit of an extended break after months and months of lifting with only 5 days off for rest weeks would help more than hurt Hips feel a lot looser and back feels a lot better in terms of no sciatic pain and such so- good! 8x8 was getting stale on me so I decided to go back to BGB. It's fun and I'm planning on getting to the real home gym mon/tues/thurs/fri from now on and leaving my weekends free. Making a point to do a leg workout on Mondays and maybe Thursdays. Problem is with BGB my legs are so slow to recover I often need 5 days in-between leg days but we'll see what happens. Today was horizontal push/pull! Tomorrow will be either quads and biceps or hammies and triceps. Although I'm also getting angry about my bench press so I'm thinking of doing 5/3/1 for bench only. I left my routine at work (day off today) so I hope I did this right
Horizontal Push/Pull!
Rack Pulls! 5x5 (For the first time EVER! Interesting. Really felt them in my lower back, not sure if in a good way or not)
135x10

225x0
135x12
Bench Press: 5x5 (didn't know what weight to start off with for sets)
45x12
70x8
95x5
115x3
110x3
100x5
100x5
100x5 (? I think ? )
Seated Rows: 3x8
45x12
90x2 (too heavy for 8 reps so lowered weight)
70x10
75x8
75x8
Chest Dips: 3x8

T-Bar Rows: 3x10-12

Holy quads Lori!!! Legs are looking great.
You mentioned having bad TOM symptoms and being on BC. There could be a few reasons for that; if you haven't been on it long your body can take a couple months to figure its self out, the prescription you are using may not be right (too little or much of a hormone). I took a couple of different ones before I found one that I liked.
Yay for finding a good balance between life and working out. There are always goals outside of aesthetics ones, especially if you are happy with the way you look now
Strong looking BGB workout there. You were pretty on it, here is the sample from the site
Day 1: Horizontal push pull, calves, and abs
Thickness-Back:
Rack pulls 5×5 (direct, hard, strength range)
Bent-over rows 3×8 (hypertrophy range)
(If you do a third, Hammer Rows 3×10-12)
Chest:
Flat bench 5×5
Incline dumbbell press 3×8
(if you do a third, Incline cable flyes 3×10-12)
Calves: (soleus) 3×12-20 seated calf raises. Pause at the bottom
Abs: 3 sets of 8-12, weighted
I'm also doing this one todayIf this were easy, everyone would walk around ripped.
I like eating, it helps with the not dying.

YAY! I can always do with more but I really like the feeling of looking athletic! I like my arms and legs and abs. recomping will help to tighten the legs a bit more and they feel alot tighter now than they did a month or two ago even so I'm going to keep on keeping on
Ah, thanks! I was pretty close! Made the random decision to lift on the way home from mom's house and didn't have it written out so went into the gym blind!
Thank you! I'm not too bad! I can drive on flat land, lol!!! Hills are challenging but I will master them yet!
It's good! The Voltaren the doctor prescribed to take down the inflammation really helped. I think I was able to get the blood flowing to the area more for healing purposes or something. Dunno but not complaining Going to sterngthen the crap out of it now
Thanks DM! That's true! Maybe I'll wait until the fall to buckle down a bit more, lol!!!!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Ouchie my trap is sore today! Left trap feels bad :/ It always feels bad, but ultra bad today! Feels notted and really sore. Felt tight when I was lifting yesterday; I really need to stretch them more! I was going to do a leg workout today and combine triceps and biceps and abs into a workout for only one leg day a week but making an exception this week because I cannot hold db's in my hands with my trap this sore. So quads and biceps on Monday and hammies and triceps + abs today! Yay! And I'm definitely going to set up my bench in a 5/3/1 kind of way. For sure. I wanna bench 145! And remember all those supps I won? Still didn't get them all, lol, but I did get a big container of Animal Pack vitamins! Every serving is like, 10 horse pills, hahha! Happy Thursday!
