Love this piece, the colour hand shouldn't be there though IMO.
Personally don't think you can number the 'best artists'.... people prefer some over the other.
You have also many artists outside the USA that are lesser known who although aren't at the same calibre are relatively new and have their own style, I will mention a few who I know starting off with my regular artist.
Edgar Ivanov
Ryan Evans (specialises great in B&G and colour)
Jason Butcher (very unique style, adds his own touch to all pieces and calls it death romantic)
Piotr Ćwięk (Not sure if you can class him as black and grey as he adds an neon blue to almost all his pieces, amazing stuff)
Dean Taylor
Jak Connolly
Left out loads as im off to the gym, don't think you can just pick a top 10 of the best artists as they all excel in stuff.

Jak Connolly is one of my favourite artists. He's a monster and considering he's only been tattooing for 5 years, I can't imagine what he'll be like later.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of that list of yours. From the artists you just listed, I know 4 and love their work. The other 2, I just looked up and I also love their work.

Do any of you guys know anything about the new Picosure laser removal technology? It appears that it's only around a year old, but people are saying it hurts way less and removes twice as fast as normal lasers. Reason why I'm asking is because a place opened near by with one of the lasers there. I want to research it a lot before I decide to pull the trigger on it.

Just found this thread. Looking to extend my half sleeve to a 3/4 sleeve on my left arm. Any good shops you'd recommend in So Cal (LA or OC)?

Fountain Valley! I have work from Jose, Pablo, and Sam from Low Rider. All great artists and super chill. My whole left arm and half of my right are compliments of lowrider. Check my IG in my sig if you want to see some of the work I've gotten. I'm also happy to answer any questions; heaps of the guys on here have gotten work done there.
Under the gun in LA has some great artists as well. I don't have any work from those guys but they're definitely on the radar. Tons of great artists in So Cal.
I always thought that'd be a pretty cool experience. I'm too fearful of Hep C though (can't help it working in the medical field). Are you thai/does it have any cultural or heritage meaning or was it more for the looks and experience? Does it take much longer than a standard, modern-day tattoo? I'm just curious as to how it differs from a tattoo gun. Very cool though!

So I just heard back from Boristattoo/Robert Zyla and he's got space available for me on September 3rd. They were asking for a €300 (~$400) deposit though, is that normal for a medium sized (7x5) shoulder piece?
How much do you guys think this is going to cost based on a $400 deposit? I ask this mainly because I need to pay in cash and I'll have to convert the $$ before I leave the states, and so far they haven't discussed pricing at all with me.☆☆☆MISC BOXING CREW☆☆☆

In my experience deposits are around 1/3rd to 1/4th the total cost of tattoo but it definitely varies by artist. I've paid as little as $100 and as much as $500 for a decent sized piece.
And pricing should be absolutely discussed prior. Just ask if he charges hourly or by piece; they should be able to give you a rough estimate. Tell them you'll be paying cash because it sometimes cuts you a break.

Took 30 minutes, felt like 3 hours.
Umm, it was about as sanitary as it was going to get, they let the rods sit in alcohol overnight and don't use gloves so your best bet is to get there early in the day so you don't get hiv or hep.
Meaning is: http://www.thaiguidetothailand.com/m...9-spires-yant/ I didn't get to pick my tattoo and you dont get to see it until it's done, I also have a tiger done in the same fashion on my middle back but don't have pics
Cost: for the one you see it was $40 as a donation to the temple, I also got the tiger done but it was done in the general population where they do it free, it came out a lot more dotty but It looks more like the one in the vid, that one cost $2
I'm White but I was there training muay thai for several months and currently an am fighter so I did it for protection and luck if you believe in that kind of stuff. As far as hep and hiv, yes it's possible but there haven't been any reported cases from my knowledge and if you get there first in the morning (which I did) you wont share it with anyone else. It's significantly faster than a modern tattoo and the healing took 4 days until it was completely healed, didn't use aquaphor or anything and there was no scabbing. The tattoo time was about 30 min for top tattoo and I got a tiger for free done that took literally 10 minutes, the difference is that they jab you with a metal needle by hand like 5000 times at extremely high speeds but it doesn't tear the skin so it results in fast healing. Cost is very little, but it hurt an insane amount, it felt like being stung by a swarm of bees for the entire duration of 30 minutes so it felt like 3 hours.Last edited by Nadolax; 07-28-2014 at 08:40 AM.

Awesome man, looking forward to seeing it!
I emailed Ryan the other day about getting a piece based on a sculpture of Prometheus and he's really up for it - Said to get back in touch with him in October though, so we'll see what happens. He comes across as a really nice dude.
I also seen on ******** that Piotr Deadi Dedel is guesting at Kamil Tattoo from October onwards... Really really wanna get in on that, he's incredible. Sucks living at the other end of Britain!Last edited by GreyBrah; 07-28-2014 at 01:01 PM.

Can you guys take a look at some of his work and tell me what you think? I can't embed any pics since it's off instagram. I personally have a chest piece done by him 3 years ago and it looks good and already have a deposit for my other chest and shoulder to be done
personally I think he does a good job with both traditional japanese and photo realism but he told me he doesn't like doing realism and even suggested i go to someone else i had in mind. that statement made me 50/50 on going through with my sessions with him. lmk all input appreciated thanks.~**NYC crew**~

Can anyone recommend a place for a smallish (2 by 6 inch or so) black and grey tattoo in NYC? Nothing with ridiculous wait times if possible.
And do you guys think it's weird to have black and grey tattoos and then some random colorful traditional tattoos? I'm not sure how that would look like, cause I think color tattoos look amazing (esp on pale skin like mine), but I really like black and grey in general.Started from 110 lbs, goal 160lbs.
