    Deadlifting w/o belt unsafe?

Some coach in my gym told me to get a belt for deadlifting because it was unsafe to do it raw. Should I listen? I plan on competing raw whenever I feel strong enough but it will compromise my core strength without the belt. Is it necessary for safety issues?

Doing it with a belt IS raw. Its not necessary unsafe to deadlift beltless but using a belt will provide extra core and lower back stabilization.

I'd recommend getting a $100 Inzer belt and not using those ****ty thin ones.

After using the inzer 10 mm level I can't go back to regular thin leather belts

Belts are essentially cheating and add around 50lbs+ to your max

Might as well throw on a deadlift suit

if you're competing, then use every advantage you can use in the raw division, therefore use a belt. i'd recommend only using a belt for max effort sets though, not warmups.

My bad. I heard some guys saying you competed without a belt in raw and took there word for it. Checked the rules and now I feel dumb -_-. You live and you learn I guess.

Ima look into the inzer one. Thanks

    This.

People who use belts for all lifts are ****s. I saw 1 guy warm up with a belt. Strong lol... I never use belts, but then again i don't dead over 360. But for big lifts I get why someone would use a belt. But in general? No need.

No gloves, no straps, no belt, no shoes. Just do it fcking butt naked. Like you were meant to do it.

Humans were not meant to lift excessively heavy dumbbells. I would be all for using aides like these. However, I don't have the money right now haha.
The most important, is olympic weightlifting shoes. I don't see a need for anything else. But weightlifting shoes really do help you not destroy your ankles, and give you a stable ground to push from.

there is nothing wrong with belting for a heavier lift. if you need the extra core and lower back stabilization for a heavier lift then it's 100% better to be safe than sorry.

Proud Inzer Belt owner....I would never dead lift without one. I have a slight case of scoliosis and the belt provides me with that extra added support. Plus....it can help reduce the risk of injury...thus not taking time away from your lifting? Why not wear one?

Order belt first. Takes 6+ weeks if its custom color. Plus your gonna get bruised from using it for the first two weeks. After it conforms to your body though, the bruising will stop.

Training with a belt is non-sense. I wouldn't say to use a belt until you're getting to 90-100% of your max. Without a belt you'll build a stronger back and core.

If you want to compete in belt it's only logical to train in one. If you don't want to compete and only want to put more stress on your muscles you should also use a belt.
Anyone saying that using a belt is like putting on a suit is just ignorant and don't know the mechanics behind a belt/suit.
Also using a belt probably wont prevent injuries.

I only use it for the last set, that remindes me what happened last time. A guy came to me who was wearing belt while doing chest flyes with 12.5 lbs dumbbells and he was amazed why i don't wear a belt while deadlifting 3 plates hahah. My country sucks it is full of bro science .. even the gym owner once told me that i shoudn't let the bar touch the ground while i deadlift, he said that he has been training for 10 years and never he let the bar touch the ground.

    Get the belt first
    1. itll take awhile to arrive
    2. youll get more out of the belt than the adipowers (I got both)

If you aren't squatting or dling over 315 no reason to get a belt imo. And if you do don't wear it everywhere you go, wear it for your last set and take it off.
