I took my preworkout(Pump-HD) on an empty stomache and felt nausea and eventually I vomitted some of it along with some blood. I have already been using for almost 3 weeks and it only happened today. My major concern is am I okayy ?

1. Your too young for PWO
2. Never work out on an empty stomach.
3. Never eat right before a work out either.
You probably felt sick due to a combinatio nof 1-2 obvoiusly. THe throwing up blood i have no idea, but you should never work out on an empty stomach. And i dont even suggest taking a pre workout either. Im 26 and never have taken any of these pre workouts. I care what i put into my body though.

Its just something i was always told. Im new to this site and dont read what other do. I just go by what people have told me and what i have always done. Carbs/calories are needed for energy. It makes sense to me that you could push yourself more if you had more energy.
Hey maybe im wrong, but the OP is not in a calorie deficit and he is also not fasting. He is a beginner and should be eating about 60 mins before his workout IMO. But again.... i dont read hundreds of articles on body building and what not. I just go by what i have learned over the years.Last edited by knicksfan20; 02-23-2014 at 12:52 PM.

Dieting Myth 2: You Burn Fat Faster by Exercising on an Empty Stomach
Starving yourself before you exercise isn’t only ineffective, it may be harmful. A report published this year concluded that your body burns roughly the same amount of fat regardless of whether you eat before a workout, but you’re likely to lose strength-building muscles by exercising on an empty stomach. Not only that, without food to fuel your workout, exercise intensity and overall calorie burn are reduced. On the other hand, when you exercise with some food in your stomach, you’re burning fat instead of muscle, leaving you with more energy and a higher calorie burn. Be sure to eat 30 minutes before exercise, preferably a liquid-like yogurt or a protein shake so your body can make nutrients readily available for your workout.

Still havn't "informed" me to why its a good thing and why i have 4 guys in this topic calling me wrong. From personal trainers to just friends who go to the gym, everyone has told me to eat before working out (i have 2 friends who are trainers)
Now if im wrong im wrong, im just passing along what i was told. So far... nobody here has said why its a good thing to not eat before working out. To me it makes very little sense. Help me understand (im not being sarcastic here)
To totally disregard my post because "im red" is stupid. Im "red" because i made a topic about an experiment i was going to try and multiple people thought it was a bad idea and neg rep'd me. Pretty childish if you ask me.
For the OP... He is 16 years old and his body is still growing. Please explain to me and to him why he should be working out on an empty stomach. He clearly isnt in a calorie deficit and clearly isnt fasting at 16 years old. My advice to him....
1. Dont take PWO
2. Eat a good meal 1 hour before working out.
3. Dont eat right before working out (as in getting a sandwhich, eating in car and showing up to the gym wiping the ketchup on your pants)
How is that poor advice?

IF any of yall looked like how my boy does. Then maybe i would take your advice over his.
Or maybe the article i posted from Doctor Oz means something too? Everybody gets their info from other people. I just said where i got mine from. I admitted i am new to this forum. For the years i have worked out, everything i have learned is from working out, and asking questions.
I have ALWAYS been told it was best to not work on an empty stomach. So instead of the condecending remarks, how about you answer why its better to work out on an empty stomach?
And dont give me a BS answer like... Well.. if you are on a calorie deficient its good. Or .... Im trying to burn fat so its ok.
THe OP is 16 years old. Why is it good for him to work out on an empty stomach? Learn me.

Personal trainers, Dr. Oz, working out fasted means burning fat? All in one post?
Is this real life?
It's not "good" or "bad" to workout fasted. It's personal preference. I train better on an empty stomach; someone else might not. Stop throwing your broscience around here.CountryMike Appreciation Crew
