LOL when I was dating my ex we went through two of her birthdays. Without fail. Everytime. I would get a call that night with her crying her eyes out, no matter how great of a day she had she'd always find something wrong or have too high of expectations and be disappointed and say her birthday sucked.

Guys you won't believe this but Yesterday was my GF's birthday. I was supposed to take her out but I had a business deal fall through leaving me unable to. So she didn't seem to upset and we went to Safeway to buy a cake and candles. We were both in high spirits.
After we bought the cake I suggested we get stuff to make tacos, and we did. Ground beef, seasoning, avacado, etc.
We get back to her apartment at about 9:30 and I start cooking the taco meat. She asks if I wanted to prepare the cake, and I said "no, let's eat first." A few minutes later she comes in and starts critisizing; telling me that I put in too much seasoning and the meat tasted bad. So I'm feeling insulted.
Anyway, I keep my cool and calmly make her two tacos and set them on the table. She was using the computer. I go back in the kitchen and make tacos for myself, since I'm hungry and had a long day.
I sit down at the table and she's still on the computer. Her tacos are sitting on the table next to her cake. So I start eating. I ate one taco and go on to the second and she starts staring at me. I'm also on my second beer.
She then begins telling me that all I care about is food and that I'm just like an animal. All I care about is eating. So I tell her that I don't know what to say. I was shocked. She starts gathering all my stuff from her apartment and cries.
I've never seen her cry before in the seven months we've dated. She starts telling me I ruined her birthday. I'm just standing there speechless. And she puts my stuff in bags outside of her door.
I walk over to the bags and try to talk to her. She has done this type of thing before but never meant it. We always made up quickly. But this time I had enough. I wasn't playing this game again. It's not worth it to me. Yet I give it one more shot.
I walk back into to the apartment. She's laying on the bed not saying anything and seems calm, so I sit down and start preparing the cake like I had planned. Out of no-where she gets up and bashes the cake with a Comcast remote. So I look at her and stand up. I put on my coat and walk out to my bags. But I turn around and walk back into the room. She's on the bed again.
I take the mashed Chocolate cake and fling in across the room. Cake gets all over her purses and window shades, treadmill machine, and floor. I had cake all over my hand so I wiped it on her wall as I walk out her door. I turned around once more and told her "Happy Birthday," then picked up my bags and left. I heard her crying softly.
I walked out to my car, started it, and left.

Good job OP. Repped.
If your GF can't sympathize with you having lost a business deal, getting your car towed and other random expenses that popped up that you had to deal with, she doesn't deserve to be with you. It's one of her many birthdays, she could have sucked it up. It's not like she got elected to be the President that day.
It's a good thing you guys broke up, you can find yourself a more understanding girl. You seem like a hardworking person so in years from now when you'll be successful, you'll be with a more compassionate person.JP.MP.DT

Idk Op maybe you should've at least waited to start eating once she was there eating with you too.
It's all good though, no use regretting anything that happened. It's all been done.
I'm also sure Tyrone and Jamal already showed up to make her birthday better by now. I can guarantee you their frosting made a bigger mess than the cake you threw across the room.☆☆☆MISC BOXING CREW☆☆☆

If you guys broke up over something as stupid than that, then both of you deserve to be alone.
I really just do. not. understand how people make relationships so difficult. It honestly baffles my mind.
"You can stand there and say no, no, no... But all I hear is who wants cake?""The universe vibrates to the frequency of love."
"Reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers that want to turn you into a half-baked moron, consuming all of this trash that is being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world."
