Im american and I hate trucks with a passion.
The few times I have to drive my dads for some reason, I hate it. Aside from people who actually go offroading I cant for the life of me figure out why anyone would be passionate about them.

Aussies are obsessed with those retarded Ute monstrosities.
That being said, if you think truck culture is big in the US, come to Africa. 9/10 vehicles I see are Toyota pickups. BRB rolling around in one of these every day. I know you guys are jealous of my diesel Toyota. Wish I could buy one back home.

Much of the U.S. is rural, and trucks are practical in rural environments. In my state, people have trucks so they will have 4 wheel drive when it snows, so they can haul their ATVs, after hunting to put the deer in the truck bed, towing stuff, etc. Also, it is great to have friends with trucks when you need to move.
Space is not a concern here, so we don't have to drive those tiny Euro cars. It has to suck to drive something that small when you're going on a long trip somewhere and have to haul 4-5 people and suitcases. Another good thing about trucks is that if someone hits you in a small car, you're likely to come out less injured than the occupants in the small car.
I have a Jeep, but I can still do many of the same things that trucks can do. Feelsgoodman
You what m8? Geography.......not even once. It is hard to find straight roads in my state, or elsewhere in the Appalachian Mountains.
We have plenty of cars that can corner very well, you're just unawareLast edited by userofpeace1111; 01-14-2014 at 10:16 AM.

1. America is a big country. A big country filled with lakes, rivers, and has a bunch of ocean front property. Some of us are lucky enough to own boats or PWC. Try towing a 19" Bayliner with a Ford Ka.
2. Some Americans own dirt bikes, side by sides, dune buggies, four wheelers, etc. Again, try hauling that **** with a Fiesta.
3. Some of us just prefer to find big ass mud holes and see if their trucks can drive through them. It's a very popular past time.
Edit: I forgot about hunting. Yeah, have fun driving through snowy back country in your Renault with a 200lb smelly deer carcass in the back seat.
I do think that the guys who drive around their cities in a 10" lifted truck with 35s and never go off-road/haul stuff are posers.

ameribrah checking in.
i live in middle america too. (for the unaware that = truck central)
I never understood why people would buy a truck without a need for one. I don't even mean a big need, even if you just like to work on your house/yard a truck is practical. But half of my apartment complex drives trucks and I know not ALL of them has a reason.

There literally built to be more durable. My last job they had 3 trucks with over 340k miles on em. These trucks haul tons of weight and other things. Truck will out last any car.
The car's we had would maybe last to 250k .. plus with a wide shoulders cars are not roomy.190lbs Comp lifts: 420/350/600 USAPL

Murka is more wide open with bigger spaces. We don't have a lot of the public transportation and services that Euros take for granted. So moving stuff like furniture or any household items a lot of times requires a truck. People tend to own boats, trailers or other things that require a truck to move around. It's a utilitarian vehicle.
I do think that the size of our trucks is a bit ridiculous. Our mid-size trucks are now the size of full-size trucks in the 80s, and our full-sized are gargantuan. Not a truck owner personally but there are a lot of times when I needed one, and had to borrow one to move around stuff.★cVc★

I've always owned trucks...except when I went to a car...horrible choice. I suddenly had tobreky on other for help moving and forget driving through bad snow or ice or mud. Finally back to owning and truck and I'll never not own one again
My truck averages 22mpg on the highway. More cab room then any car will ever have. Nice bed. 360 horse and 420 torque. Cars are only practical if your not ever going to transport objects of any size or mass, or drive in horrible weather...Fuk carsPeace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
