My 101 year old Great GrandPappy Tris "Kentucky" Fairleigh passed away 2 years ago. We are refurbishing his house, getting ready to put it up for sale. I got the kitchen taken care of and decided to start clearing up the attic. Spooky crawling into an old man's attic, no telling what youll find up there (dolls, toys made of tin, old pin up girls, lamp shades littered with dust). I'm shining the flashlight in every which way, making sure the bitc* from the Ring isnt creeping around in the eerie shadows, when I come across an old checkerboard book wrapped with some very brittle shoe lace. This book looked like it was Moses's Math book or something from that era, because this bad boy was old! I unraveled the shoe lace, opened up the book, and began to read.
What I've read in this entire journal, I swear on my life is the most interesting life story I've ever read! Its written in first person, and by far one of the most thrilling adventures I've ever seen or read either in a movie or story book. Im not sure if I should share the details with certain family members or not, but I will share an overview of the old man's Adventurous life with the Misc if the interest is there. It took me 4 days to read the entire journal, and Im in such shock I can hardly sleep at night! Im not sure if the Old man wanted this book to be found or not, but him leaving it in the attic, tucked away under an old electric blanket, im sure he knew it would be discovered and his story would be brought to light.
A quick run down of whats in the journal:
-Granpappy was convicted of killing twin brothers in 1933, at the age of 23.
-He was in a Prison Chain gang located deep in the woods of Arkansas
-He escaped from the prison in 1936
-Narrowly escaped the law numerous times, camping in the mountains of Colorado, swamps of Louisiana, and plains of West Texas
-He changed his name from Christy to Tris to avoid detection
-He made a fortune selling Moonshine
-Buried his fortune along the coast of Texas, near Surfside Beach, Tx.
AND HERES THE REAL KICKER....
WAIT FOR IT..................
He writes of hitch hiking along the coast of Florida in the 50's with a very quiet and strange man who gave him a dollar bill from the 90's. The mans name was John Titor. My mind is nuked. I'll type out pieces of the journal if there is interest. Yes there is a map to the treasure, and yes, there is a dollar bill pressed inside the journal from the 90's along with a grainy black and white photo of my grandpappy with another man along the side of the road smiling (I assume John?)
