From a recent appearance/seminar he did in Greece, speaking on stage about the significance of competing and his dream as a young athlete.

Not to be mean, but I'm really bored of hearing him talk about being in D1 basketball and how that shaped him to be competitive... and on and one. I respect that he's proud of his basketball/collegiate accomplishments, but at this point its comparable to a broken record or hearing your Grandfather tell the same old war stories over and over again.
Every time Phil is on stage I expect three things: 1) an impressive physique, 2) something about his basketball career, 3) and crying.
That said, nice find.

He should come up with a creative new past to tantalize people like RoRo.
He does a lot of these. It's part of his "job" right? He would have to keep telling the same/similar story each time. For a lot of the people sitting there in the audience, it's new. For others, they don't care coz they're seeing Phil in the flesh so "yay".
You follow the pros like a hawk. You watch this **** all the time. Of course it's going to start sounding like a broken record.
Now go outside and play.Novice Athletic Tall winner and Overall Athletic winner
at the 2014 NABBA Waikato Champs.

I can't go outside and play, I'm at work right now :-(.
You're right that those of us follow the sport hear a broken record when we follow folks a lot, but I don't really notice it with others as much (Kai, Wolf - except the "you know" phrase, etc)
Though you have to admit, it is sad if you're muting a conference and just oogling his forearms....

DPNZ is right. Anyone who gets paid to speak publicly develops a script to follow. A lot of these appearances can last for over an hour, and people just want to hear the reigning Mr. Olympia talk. To be honest, he could say just about anything, and they'd be interested. It's best to speak from experience, and tell it like it is. As much as I'd like to see an underdog take the title, there's no doubt Phil is a great champion.

Not disagreeing at all on Phil's legitimacy as a champion, just tired of the basketball talk. Tell me more about your lifting experience, how you climbed the ranks, what trials and tribulations you went through there. I honestly don't care about the basketball career, grats you're athletic.
I AM interested in your lifting career - as I imagine most people who go to hear him speak are. You can be scripted, but you should also try to speak to your target audience on point. This isn't me "hating" our current champ, just tired of hearing about something that has nothing to do with THIS sport. Its on par with someone swapping sports during their career and when being asked about their current experience, they always refer to the glory days of their prior sport. Tell me about now, I'm in the now, I'm a fan because of where you are now.
I'm just a stickler I guess. I will give credit though, Phil does speak well, he doesn't fumble or shy away from the camera.

I would imagine that if someone is to excel at a sport at high level of competition that that sport has to become their life. So if Basketball was his previous life before bodybuilding, oh me oh my how dare he talk about it a lot! Oh my jimmies!
Can you feel my jimmies rustling???Spike92 is 15.
^ place this in your sig to remind the world that Spike92 is indeed 15 and will never be anything other than 15.

Was suprised how bad the audio quality was due to the servere echoing in the building phil was speaking in, they should have employed some kind of audio tech to make Phil easier to hear, some fabric on the walls would have helped, maybe a large wide picture of Wolf in rear double bi. Will watch it all later and try to catch all the words said.

Phil was beaten in many poses by Wolf and Kai that he has very little room for error. Phil is world #1 but the world # 2 and world #3 have the goods to beat him. Kai proved this at the Prague Pro and Wolf proved this at the Olympia. Wolf's arms are also fast catching up to Heath's.

Wolf is amazing, but his soft glutes kill him. But his back is excellent -- wider and overall better than Phil's. Hamstrings have definitely come along. And from the front he is the best. Nobody can touch him on the most muscular. I just wish he was a bit more charismatic and had his angry face on on stage more. But yeah, Wolf really needs a ripped ass to win an Olympia.

Not really. Phil holds his own in size and thickness. Only thing seriously outsized is lat width.
And not sure if it was mentioned in this thread or not, but despite Phil's proportions, he still manages to have freak-factor. Those delts are insane(and yes, the 3D look to his physique, the way stuff pops out, etc).
Yes, Kai's back is better....and Phil is still winning that shot due to conditioning. He's holding his own in size while being clearly sharper. Kai is just bigger. Again, if it were all about size, Ramy should've been top 3 or even winning. I sincerely hope nobody believes Ramy should've won the Olympia this year.Last edited by stealth_swimmer; 11-22-2013 at 08:11 PM.

Let's agree to disagree.
Phil was holding own indeed but wasn't enough for Kai. His structure is getting exposed from both sides.
It's not a few striations on the glutes that'll take away Kai's incredible thickness, detail width and legs, not to mention, his arms are hidden.Last edited by RoroCwalker; 11-22-2013 at 08:19 PM.

He got up every morning, brushed his teeth and lifted weights. Kinda ate a few times in the meantime too.
What the hell do you honestly expect these people to say? They're exactly like you, only better at doing the whole bodybuilding gig.
Also thread devolving as usual, stay classy folks.People these days have more reps than brain cells

I understand your points but honestly do you think that this extra small amount of conditioning was enough to make up for a bigger difference in size? This whole thing honestly frustrates me. Kai bigger and Phil drier = judges say we favor dryness. Kai has lat striations but not ripped glutes = judges say we favor ripped glutes. It's just too obvious, to be honest I don't look forward for next year's Mr. O because everybody here knows that nobody can dethrone Phil if 2012 Kai couldn't.
