There is a difference between socialism, a political ideology, and socialized medicine, a type of healthcare system like what Canada has.

Private health insurance is not socialist healthcare. It's not socialized healthcare. It's private industry. The idea that private insurance is an example of socialism is laughable.

I guess the line lies between a government-run insurance company, and the government actually seizing healthcare facilities and taking over the industry entirely, getting rid of competition and funding it with tax revenues. It's a fine line, but I think most people would qualify the later as "socialist" while both could fall under the definition of "social medicine". I'm obviously not arguing if private insurance is "socialist" or not, it's the result of free market capitalism so obviously it's not.

Our "private" healthcare system with ya know, private insurance companies, could have worked a lot better and not needed that miserable piece of crap bill to try to "fix" it. I mean, I've said it in the past, Obamacare is a symbol of what the real problem was. It's treatment for a problem, not a cure. Our lazy, fat society that is addicted to fast food and held up with a pharmaceutical racket is the reason the "old" system wasn't working well enough for our wonderful leadership. Liberals are completely against personal responsibility and would rather pass the blame on to everyone else and let normal people foot the bill to take care of those who can't play the game right.

Well the so-called private insurance industry in america wasn't exactly a shining example free market capitalism and open competition. But that was because of government. Government caused the problem by being too involved and now it's attempting to solve it by getting more involved.
