Which trade works in the sun?
Plumber? Nope
Electrician? Nope
Locksmith? Nope
HVAC? Nope
Need I go on?
My point was that college is literally not worth the cost for most people. I keep reading how trades cap early but degree jobs do not. Lol what a joke. The world isn't like that anymore. I guarantee union workers got more pay raises since 2008 then non union non skilled office workers. Even union office workers don't make as much trade workers.
For the record I went to college and do not work in a trade

Perhaps. There's certainly a lot of merit in taking up a trade.
Having said that, several of my friends at University who are graduating this year just signed contracts with investment banks with starting salaries ranging from $95,000 - $105,000 (plus bonuses on top of that) at 20 years of age with University debt of ~$25k.
Is it a hellish lifestyle? Yes. Would you possibly be able to make anywhere near that much money at that age through a trade? No. University does create more opportunities. Perhaps not for everyone, but for some.

trades are great, make great cash, have a valuable skill…but ive worked with/talked to alot of guys who have been in the trade as a lifetime career, 20-30 years in, and every single one of them says that its rough on your body. and this isnt just framers and iron workers and "rough" jobs, this is HVAC guys, plumbers, electricians, etc. Its great when youre young, but when youre 40+ you start feeling the aches and pains of doing manual labor all day
i know were all young and bulletproof right now, but listen to the guys who have been doing it their whole life, they will give you the real talkTrump 2016

this. the salaries alot of people reference are for a Master who is either self employed or in a great union and working full time if not more. Its also very common for tradesmen to be without work for weeks, even months, at a time. On the other side though, my neighbor is a self employed master plumber, been doing it for almost 30 years, has a great reputation in the community, he makes ridiculous money but its because hes been in the same area doing it his whole life and has built up to that.

that's because of the way you brought it out
so has any tradesman actually posted that they earn over a 100k (no, "my friends earns etc, or the salary cap is...", don't count) with proof?
if so, why are they bragging with how much they make?
used to agree with this 100%. now it's more like 70%ish.

you can make awesome money if you own your own business, have one of the rarer skilled trades (i know a guy who operates big ass cranes and he makes retarded amounts of money, but those jobs are very rare). just like anything else, being successful in trades is about your background, your work drive, your connections, and luck

What they don't tell you about trade jobs is that you only have work when there is a project happening. Work for a few months making bank and then no work for a month or two. So you have to budget your income to last.
Or livin out of motels traveling from city to city or state to state. No thanks Jeff.

nikka your misc career has been bragging about your Hermes belt and $200 t-shirts, don't start preaching about people bragging about their cash flow. and its completely believeable trade guys make 6 figures, union wages around here are in the $30-40/hr range, my buddy is a union pipefitter working for National Grid (huge utilities company) so he has guaranteed 40/hrs a week yr round plus tons of overtime, he makes solid 6 figures.

Trades are good and we all need their services at some point, whether you ceo 10k/day or not.
I won't claim my friends make 6 figures or anything, but any one of my friends or people i know who don't have a college degree and aren't military that isn't on dat poverty time works in a trade field.
Most of the $$ comes from OT.

Misc: Where plumbers and electricians are on 10k/day CEO time and all college graduate are unemployed or working at McDonald's.
To make bank as a tradesman you need to really find a niche market and even then you generally need a TON of experience before you start making bank. Or the job just needs to be so dangerous or strenuous that nobody wants to do it.

College: costs $100k and you may not get a job
Trade: doesn't have to cost anything and you have high chances of a job
Even if you get crappy constriction jobs that end every few months you can still do other jobs. You can get gigs on Craigslist or whatever
There has never been a time in history where it has been as expensive to go to school as now. It's literally not worth it.
Do what you want misc I'm just calling it like it is
Also: who says you have to work a trade for the rest of your life? You can easily work a trade for 2-3 years to finance your education then work part time while going to college full time.
Every trade guy I know owns a house and has a family. They may get their satisfaction from home life rather than work. And that's ok.
Let's say you work a trade, there are chances for you to become a supervisor, foreman, trainer, contractor, sub contractor. You don't HAVE to work the actual trade for your whole life
