Just a thought, but pullups / lat pulldowns also involve your biceps a lot, as well as your wrists / forearms. May be something to think about? Also, if you have got a weak exercise, the best way to improve it is to actually DO more of that exercise. Maybe try with a friend to help you i.e. pushing you back up so that you can get a 2nd rep out of it. Strength also comes from the 'negative' portion of the exercise, in this case the lowering of your body. Be sure to do that under control, and slowly, resisting the whole way down for a count of 3 to 4, and combine it with a friend helping you up, and if you do that consistently you should definitely see some improvements :-) Good luck!

Stong as an ox?? I was kind of thinking someone who can bench press over 400 lbs and deadlift over 600lbs. No offense but, I do not think you could do that.
Just be humble and keep working out. You will eventually be able to do more pull ups. I was only able to do 10 pull ups 7 years ago, but after good old fashion Marine Corps bootcamp back in 2004. I am now able to do over 20 pull ups easily. In fact, I usually do pull ups with 35 or 45 lbs plate and still knock out more than 6 reps.

Doing lat pulldowns didn't help me with pull/chin ups. Doing pull ups, chin ups did. even tho i can bang 7 chins now one week ago i was able to do none. What i did was wake up, do warm up, do a negativ chin with full ROM 30 sec lowering. Went to school did the same before first class. Then in between classes. You get the idea.

Going to try to add a helpful reply to be a little bit different here:
If you want to get stronger at doing pullups - start doing pullups.
Since you can only do 1, get one of those pullup bars you can hang in a door way and start doing 1 pullup every time you walk past or through that door. When you can do 2, start doing 2 every time you walk past it. When you can do 3... you get the picture I think.

Anyway, trying using a chair below you, and start by grabbing the bar in a full contracted position (highest point) then lift your legs off the chair and "Slowly" emphasize this "slowly" lower yourself down, repeat and do about 3-4 sets of 10 like this every other day for about 2 weeks. I bet you'll be able to get at least 5 regular pull-ups/chin-ups when your fresh after doing this.
You can incorporate your own twist on this aswell, (wide grip) (close grip) (assisted using chair on the way up (contraction)).“Man – He sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

Way too much negativity.
Thanks for the ones who posted positive feedback and encouragement. And when I said "strong as an ox", I obviously didn't mean it literally. Am I not allowed to have some confidence? I feel like other people have to make rude comments just to make themselves "look" and feel better. I was just using my job as an example of what I do everyday because in no way will I do that and then work out when I get home. And as far as numbers on the bench, squat ect. I'm more of a bodyweight exercise kind of person - except pull ups lol I never did them.
